About Us

Pony Club began in England in 1928. It is a youth club for all persons interested in riding and horses, and is now the largest organisation of riders in the world. Whatever your mount, equipment, interest or experience - you will be welcome at Pony Club.

The Kapiti Pony Club had its first rally in 1950 and now has its grounds and club rooms based on Raumati Road, Paraparaumu.  It has several paddocks, a rally ground and facilities for its members to graze, ride and care for their ponies.    The Kapiti Pony Club is located on Raumati Road, Paraparaumu. It is one of the branches of the Horowhenua Pony Club - other local branches are in Foxton, Levin, Otaki, Waikanae, Pauatahanui and Wellington.

The local area provides plenty of beach, bridle-path and farm rides. Access to Queen Elizabeth II Park and Whareroa Farm,  the Wharemauku Stream Bridle Paths and the extensive local beaches, which are within easy reach, all make for a wonderful variety of riding environments.

Some of our wonderful "Life Members" have shared stories of their memories of earlier days at Kapiti Pony Club - when they, or their children, enjoyed adventures on horseback both at rallies AND getting to rallies. These were the days when you did not buy a Pony Club Uniform, instead you were given the knitting pattern number and you made your own!
