3/24/2008 US 395 south Sherwin Creek Road southwest to snow closure Drive Time: ~2:40 Bloody Mountain: I skinned up Sherwin Creek Road, then the 4WD road to Laurel Lakes, then up to the base of Bloody Couloir of Bloody Mountain. I cramponed up the couloir to the summit. I measured the slope angle at 45 degrees. I skied the couloir finding powder for the first 200’ then a solid wind crust for the remainder. The ski down Laurel Lakes drainage was enjoyable on corn. Elevation: ~5400’ Distance: ~14 miles Time: ~6:50 Line ![]() Red Slate Mountain ![]() Looking down from near the top of the couloir ![]() Looking down from just below the summit ![]() Map ![]() |
