"Quarter Peak"

I camped on a dirt road off of CO 149 Friday night. I woke up and drove to the Square Gulch Trailhead. I started hiking at 7 am. I crossed Cottonwood Creek and Square Gulch and followed a decent trail above treeline. I was moving slowly due to a lingering infection. The foliage was wet and I soon became so wet my fingers were pruny. I climbed directly up Quarter Peak's west face. I got to the summit at 9:29 am. This small summit is very airy.

Half Peak

I descended Quarter Peak's east face. I initially was too far north and had to traverse south to get into a broad gully. The terrain was steep and loose third class. This was the hardest climbing of the day. I gained Quarter Peak's south ridge and descended towards the Half Peak-"Quarter Peak" saddle. I climbed Half Peak's northeast ridge and got to the summit at 12:22 pm.

I descended Half Peak's south ridge. The exposure at the beginning was exciting. However, the rest of the ridge was wide and shallow. The hiking was rather boring but the scenery was superb. I continued to the Half Peak-13164 saddle and up 13164's west ridge. This was an enjoyable summit.

I descended 13164's west ridge and climbed 12990's southeast ridge. I got to the summit at 2 pm. I descended 12990's east face, then tried to locate the real trail down to Cuba Gulch. There are a multitude of game trails in this drainage. It began to rain. I pulled out my shell, put my camera in my backpack. Then it began pouring. I ran back to the trailhead. I got back to the Jeep at 3 pm..
