For this chair I knew I wanted to make the seat and back out of one large bent lamination. I started with a sketch. I then made a mock-up out of plywood and 2x4s. I then used shims under the front and back feet to adjust seat angle and height. after cutting into some African mahogany, I made each side with double floating mortise and tenons on the two stretchers, and bridle joints on the arms. The seat then gets doweled on as well as two stretchers. With dowel holes in the seat, it can be mocked up as a whole After gluing up, it is starting to look nice. Some joints need to be cleaned up, and the seat needs some sanding. ![]() |
