Jr. Clio Club Activities

The Jr. Clio Club makes many donations to local organizations, charities, and causes.  The club's very first donation was to the WMTE Radio Fund. WMTE aired in Manistee the
summer of 1950.

Always interested in education,
Jr. Clio continues to contribute to a variety of projects for the Onekama School District.  For forty years, the club sponsored a High School Student to Boy's and Girl's State. The Jr. Clio Club consistently provides a $500.00 award to a deserving Onekama High School Senior.

Since 1964, the club has sponsored Santa's Visit with a party at Farr Center in Onekama. Refreshments
are served to the families and the children receive a gift from Santa.
For the past thirty years eight to ten
"Thinking of You" Thanksgiving baskets have been delivered to local residents who have either lost a family member, are elderly, who are suffering illnesses or who are new residents of the community.

For several years, the Jr. Clio Club  sponsored a concert at the Farr Center, featuring the Shelby Show Choir, providing entertainment for the Onekama community. Most recently, they have provided a concert featuring solo artist Dana Wall. In 2013, Dana's daughter Erin joined him to provide yet another afternoon of music for the Jr. Clio Club.

Club meeting programs are educational, entertaining and historical. Since Clio is the Muse of History, it has been the desire of Jr. Clio to establish a museum for Onekama. Many individuals are willing to work on this but the need of a building and a benefactor has halted the progress.
