Qualifications:

I have a BS in Art Education from Penn State University specializing in painting and sculpture and an MA in Humanities with a studio emphasis, from Penn State University. I am a PA State Certified Art Educator grades K-12. I have 18 years’ experience teaching visual art professionally in the public school system to students in grades K-6, including emotional support, learning support, and advanced students. For 17 of those years I taught art at a local elementary school to 800 students a year in grades K-4. I oversaw the entire elementary art department and developed the elementary art curriculum upon NAEA and PAEA Standards. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified.
I am a working artist, specializing in painting and photography. Nature, landscape, barns and aged farm equipment are a few of my favorite subjects. I am a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. I have shown my work at several galleries and at The Appalachian Trail Conservancy's "Third Thursday Art in the Park" series. I also designed Nature Journaling & Art on The Trail activities for the ATC in Boiling Springs, PA.
I work in the field en plein air and in my home studio in Carlisle, PA. I offer specialized individual art lessons over the summer months and in the evenings at my home studio at Earth Artisan & Outfitter and in the field, meeting at local areas of natural interest. I share my home studio with my husband, eight year old son, an old yellow lab and a young freckled bird dog. Making art has been an important part of my life. I started creating art as a young child and have spent my entire life exploring, expressing and creating in a variety of media. I enjoy learning and teaching in the realm of The Arts.
