Blackhawk Film Festival!
Hey  Interactors!!!
A new event, the Blackhawk Film Festival
 
Fundraiser, is coming up on May 19, 2016. We

will need about 15 people each to volunteer from

  
4:30 to 7:30 or 7:30 to 10:00 (3 pts each)!!!

Book Drive

Hey Interactors! 


“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” – Dr. Seuss 


It’s the time of the year for the Gift of Reading book drive! The drive will take place from November 17-21 and December 1-12, we are collecting new or almost new books for children who are ages 0-18, especially books for preschool/elementary school level reading and books in Spanish or Vietnamese. 


These books will be donated to RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) and San Jose Mercury News’ Gift of Reading book drive which will donate the books to under-served children and to teachers so that the teachers can build their classroom libraries. 


For this drive, three books will be counted as 1 point, with a maximum amount of 3 points to earn. The exception to this rule is that books that are at preschool/elementary school level reading and books in Spanish or Vietnamese will be counted as 1.5 points for each set of three. To clarify, you can receive points for a maximum of 9 books, but we do encourage you to donate more. 


Please place your books in a bag with your full name and grade written on the bag. Drop off your books in Room 3208.

Glide Memorial

Hey Interactors!


Welcome back to school! To keep it simple, Interact is ready to host its 2nd event of the year: the Glide Memorial. 

On January 3, 2015, we will meet in school at 5:45 am. Parent volunteers will then drive us to the Pleasanton Bart ($10 for each ticket), then we will take the BART to Glide Memorial Church and serve breakfasts there from 7-9 am and come back at around 11 am. You must wear an Interact t-shirt (if you do not have one, they are available for $5 in Mrs. Shuen's room).


For this event we need 20 volunteers, 1 chaperone (whose BART ticket is paid by Interact), and parent drivers. 


This event will be worth 4 points. 


Parents drivers and chaperones need to fill forms below and need to make an appointment to be fingerprinted (fee covered by school). Forms and the location of fingerprinting will be sent through your student’s loopmail after the volunteer list is finalized.

Tassajara Hills Fall Carnival

Hey Interactors!

It’s that time of year again – get ready to sign up for the Tassajara Hills Fall Carnival on Saturday, October 25! Help out the elementary school kids with crafts, food distribution, the cake walk, dance contests, the prize booth and games!
Shifts are filling up quickly from students all over the district, so sign up quickly! Volunteers are especially needed for the second carnival volunteer shift. Available shifts include:
Carnival Volunteer: 1:30 – 4:15pm and 4-6:45pm
Clean up: 6-7pm
(The number of hours will equal the number of points.)
 Sign in at the volunteer desk to receive your assignment and nametag.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift begins.

here and have it signed by a supervisor at the event and turn it into room 3208 (Ms. Shuen’s Room) by November 3 before 3:15pm. Forms turned in after this time will not be accepted.

DANVILLE D'ELEGANCE
Hey hey, Interactors!

It's a brand new year, and that means more opportunities to serve our community! Although Club Day hasn't happened yet, I'm sure there are many old members already eager to get started on their 10 point requirement for the semester in order to be considered an active Interact member. (Remember: you need to be an active member for a certain number of semesters in order to get an Interact graduation cord when you graduate in the future! And though there will be more events throughout the semester, they will be sporadic, so take the opportunity if you can!)

This Sunday, September 21st, is the Danville D'Elegance held on Hartz Avenue in Danville. It features old-fashioned (but gorgeous) cars, food, wine, etc., and all the proceeds will go toward research for Parkinson's Disease. Although the event is from 11 AM to 4 PM, volunteers shifts start at 6 AM to 6 PM. (Specific shifts listed on Google Form.) There will also be a mandatory orientation on Wednesday, September 17th, 2014, in the parking lot across the street from Christie James Jewelry store located at 412 Hartz Avenue, Danville, CA from 6 PM to approximately 6:45 PM.
