The ever opened building

Go to the ideal to be connected to the outside

The suggestion of a weekend house pushing forward search for site and the design of the building at the same time. The place to stay on a good day of the climate of the spring or autumn, Like "Because it is fine today", The feeling that I take down a hood, and want to go with a convertible. This house is usable for such a feeling.

The space of the building that be expressed with "The building which is connected to the outside" or "Inside space like a garden" cannot go over one piece of wall partitioning off the outside and the room, even if a device of the opening. The glass does not have presence but partitions off the inside and the outside. It may be said that it is cruel materials in this meaning. "Can I make space connected to the outside without any discrimination?" I began a design toward one ideal.

This building has shape that it seems to be the muzzle which it pushed out to a cliff, but a part of the tip does not have a wall, and room space is not closed. I use the outside space such as a slim cave as a room. This space is largely dependent upon the weather or, the season, a state of the outside atmosphere, but this architecture is, as how to spend weekend, to enjoy plain nature in form unlike camping.

For slim form, plain nature weakens as go to the depths, and it becomes rare that paper is flown by wind or a floor is got wet by rain, so I can use the depths in the same way as a normal room. A mosquito net is hung in the bed, soil is sprinkled, and grass grows on the floor of the tip of the room, midway of the cave is provided with the curtain made with stainless steel mesh for crime prevention. The transparency of the glass of the outer wall falls.

When I think, the most of historic building like the Pantheon or the Barcelona pavilion and Japanese traditional buildings were not completely cut with the outside. The underpass space where a homeless person lives in is outside space, too. The space where the animals and plants except the human being live in is too. There are a roof and a wall, so the possibility that "I can live somehow though it is the outside" is born.

When I think of natural pleasure to see a cabbage butterfly flies in the room or to hear the song of the narcissus flycatcher immediately therein the room, I can do readiness to take the side of natural strictness represented by wind or rain.

閉じない建築

外と繋がる理想に向かって

敷地探しと建物の設計を同時に進めている週末住宅の計画案です.春や秋の気候の良い日に滞在するための場所で,「今日は天気が良いから」と幌を降ろしてオープンカーで出かけるような気分で使える住宅です.

「外と繋がる建築」或いは「ニワのような内部空間」と形容される建築空間は,しかし,どれほど開放的な仕掛があっても,外と室内を仕切る一枚の外皮を越えることはできません.ガラスは存在感のない姿をしながら内外を隔ててしまうという意味で,残酷な材料であるかもしれません.「外と何の隔てもなく繋がる空間を作れないだろうか」一つの理想に向かって設計をはじめました.

この建物は崖に突き出した銃口のような形をしていますが,先端の部分に壁が無く,室内空間が閉じていません.細長い洞窟のような外部空間を部屋として使います.季節,外の大気の状態,天気などに大きく左右される空間ですが,週末の過ごし方として,生のままの自然を,キャンプとはまた違う形で楽しむための建築です.

細長い形のため,奥へ向かうに従い,生のままの自然は徐々におとなしくなり,風に紙が飛ばされたり,雨で床が濡らされるようなことも少なくなるので,奥のほうは通常の室内と同じような感覚で使うことが出来ます.ベッドには蚊帳が吊られ,先端付近の床には土が撒かれ草が生え,洞窟の中ほどには防犯用のステンレスメッシュのカーテンが備わります.外壁はガラスの透明度を先端から奥に向けて段階的に落としています.

考えてみると,歴史的な建築物であるパンテオンやバルセロナパヴィリオンや,日本の伝統的な建物の多くは外と完全には切れてはいませんでした.ホームレスが暮らす都市の高架下空間も外部です.人間以外の動植物が暮らしているのも外部です.屋根と壁があることで,「外だけど何とか住むことができそうだ」という可能性は生まれます.室内をモンシロチョウが飛び交い,キビタキのさえずりをすぐそこに聞く自然の快楽を思うと,雨風に代表される自然の厳しさの側面も受け止める覚悟が出来ます.
