Goals 2016

IHartHarvest, Inc. - The Potato Project 2016

Goals for 2016 Forward: Update: 1/16/17

  1. √ Board Meeting is scheduled the last Saturday of January 10:30AM to 12PM, and friends of the project are invited to spectate and to be heard in the last session of the meeting.

    1. √ We have already placed the October order for 350, 50 pound seed potato bags being 17,500 pounds to be cut in public invited Sessions, Saturday & Sunday 1PM-4PM the first weekend after Easter as April 16 and 17th.

    2. √ We hope to produce 120,000 pounds of potatoes to be harvested and given to local food pantries and the Greater Berks Food Bank. (In 2013 when we planted 18,000 pounds and harvested 202,291).

  2. √ We plan to plant longer carrots for diversification this 3rd carrot year for the same purpose, in hope to produce 3,000 pounds in 1/2 acre, or possibly more acres.

    1. √ We desire to upgrade and add field equipment, and complete on-going machinery maintenance to existing equipment. Visit the Wish List and Work Projects Pages.

    2. √ We plan to replace lost acres and to expand field farming operations with additional acres being placed into the program.

    3. √ We want to expand the sustainability side in the increasingly successful field corn project which helps support the potato project successive year Spring startup.

    4. We are endeavoring to start the String Bean or Sweet Corn Project, with needed stewardship fund raising to acquire a used harvester. The String Bean Project (Green String Beans, Yellow Wax, Snap Peas, Lima Beans) is ready for discussion and vote, for impending equipment purchase.

The question being; how much are the residents of Berks and surrounding Counties willing to support and do to help hungry neighbors in need?

John 3:21 - But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”
