Goals 2015

IHartHarvest, Inc. - The Potato Project 2015

Preliminary Goals for 2015 Forward: Update: 1/5/2015, 6/23.

  1. √ Board Meeting is scheduled the last Saturday of January 10:30AM to 12PM, and friends of the project are invited to spectate and to be heard in the last session of the meeting.

    1. √ We have already placed an order for 360, 50 pound seed potato bags being 18,000 pounds to be cut in public invited Sessions, Saturday & Sunday 1PM-4PM the first weekend after Easter as April 11 and 12.

    2. We hope to produce 90,000 (126,000) to 200,000 pounds of potatoes to be harvested and given to local food pantries and the Greater Berks Food Bank. (In 2013 when we planted 18,000 pounds and harvested 202,291.)

    3. We plan to plant carrots for diversification this second carrot year for the same purpose, in hope to produce 5,000 to 15,000 pounds.

    4. We desire to upgrade and add field equipment, and complete on-going machinery maintenance to existing equipment. Visit the Wish List and Work Projects Pages.

    5. √ We plan to expand field farming operations with additional acres being placed into the program.

    6. √ We are planning to expand the sustainability side in the increasingly successful field corn project which helps supports the potato project successive year Spring startup.

    7. We are hoping to continue endeavoring to start the String Bean Project, and or Sweet Corn Project, with needed stewardship fund raising to acquire equipment.

The question being; how much are the residents of Berks and surrounding Counties willing to support and do to help hungry neighbors in need?
