The Ferns

The Ferns at one time was thatched, the remains of which are under the present pan tile roof. It was described in the 1920 sale particulars as a villa residence with five bedrooms. Kellys shows in 1914-23 it was run by the Browning family as apartments. For Many years May and Ernest Chillcott took in guests; Phyllis Story recalls that ''May was a most enthusiastic worker and always ran the refreshments side of things - I always think of the big hildrens Christmas parties as May's parties''
