Niven fell at the second last hurdle yesterday in the 300m hurdles – was running second at the time, got up and JUST missed the bronze by 0.1 of a second! Bummer! Still broke his 300m club hurdle record – now 41.75sec
Nathan McDougall – 4th in both 2k steeplechase and 3k walk – both in club record times.

February 2, 2013: Pentathlon results:
It was a very hot day at Massey Park for the Pentathlon but all of our athletes who competed did extremely well, many surpassing their PBs. Result: 2 golds (Niven and Malia Longopoa) and 1 silver (Kalisi Longopoa). Well done and enormous thanks to the parents who helped out on the track at our 'official' posts - it's a great way to get involved!

February 9, 2013Top 10: For the first time in years, HJAC managed to field a full strength team in all genders and all age groups.  This was undoubtedly fundamental in the team achieving a very credible 7th best club in the competition.  Notable achievements were Joanna Ngan racing up an age group but did not prove to be too much of handicap as the 13G (with Alexandra Hyland) finished  fourth.  Although most age groups finished within the Top 10 for their age groups, the 14B (Niven Longopoa and Grant Elliot) proved to be the ‘best in class’ and took out first place.  Thanks must also be extended to the parents who stood up and helped out at the HJAC duty post at the finishing line.  Many athletes achieved PBs but all contributed to a successful day for HJAC.
