Welcome to Historic Huntsville!

Huntsville, Missouri was settled around 1821 making it one of the oldest towns in North Central Missouri. It was at first often known as Gogginsville for its first store owner William Goggin. On January 22, 1829, Randolph County was organized out of Chariton County, and on December 4, 1830 the county seat was located at Huntsville. The town was officially laid out and named Huntsville for Daniel Hunt, the first man to settle the town site. Its first settlers came from Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Today, still the county seat, Huntsville is a residential town of Southern charm and Midwest values. Take your time and feel free to browse this site. And if you decide to visit, we will make you feel welcome.
