Try coming to a taster “Get into Reading” group, being developed across Barnet. This is an innovative shared reading model, bringing people together in weekly groups to listen to poems and stories read aloud. Thoughts and experiences are shared; personal and social connections are made.

There will be two sessions lasting one hour, max. 9 people each, and starting promptly at 1.00 pm and 2.30pm
First Session starting at 1pm:
Second session starting at 2pm:
Ruth Cohen writes short stories, flash fiction and is attempting a novel which she dreams one day of finishing. She has been published in all three Greenacres anthologies.

After completing an English degree at UCL she gave up writing bad poetry, and worked for the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA) as a careers adviser in schools and colleges across London. She spent three years as a trainer, before heading up careers services at the University of the Arts and latterly City University.

She has always been a voracious and eclectic reader but only returned to writing after she retired, undertaking several courses at the City Lit. She works as a volunteer with the Reader Organisation, currently reading aloud with a group based in East Finchley. She loves film, theatre, food, wine, sunshine and foreign travel, and tries unsuccessfully to keep fit through swimming and aqua aerobics. She lives in Finchley with her long term partner Rob.
