ALLEN ASHLEY is an award-winning writer and editor as well as a prize-winning poet. He has had ten books published as author or editor. He runs five writing groups across north London including Clockhouse London Writers. He also co-hosts “Rhyme & Rhythm Jazz-Poetry Club” at the Dugdale Centre, Enfield. At this year's Finchley Literary Festival, Allen will be running a FREE workshop for all the family, hosting the Spoken Word Showcase and chairing the panel at the Stephens House and Gardens (Avenue House) main event. North Finchley Library, 4-6pm, Friday 30 May 2014. FREE Event. 

Getting Started – a family friendly writing workshop with award-winning editor and experienced tutor Allen Ashley; suitable for all ages from 7 to 97. 
Find out how to generate ideas and explore some simple methods to get started on your writing in this practical workshop. No previous experience necessary. You will be writing within 5 minutes!

Friern Barnet Community Library, 7-10pm, Friday 30 May 2014. Donation of £3 requested for this event. 
Spoken Word Showcase, hosted by Allen Ashley. Including readings from Amy Bird, Andrea Michael and Bill Todd. Come along and hear a great range of fiction, poetry and non-fiction from Festival writers and local authors.
