Our Pastor

Reverend Bill McGuinness

Meet Rev. Bill McGuinness who just joined us in February 2016. Pastor Bill has served churches from New York to California. Most recently he served Delta Community Presbyterian in Discovery Bay and then Mendocino Presbyterian Church in that historic village on the coast.

Pastor Bill was a young family-man and banker with Wells Fargo when was called as a follower of Jesus through some wonderfully welcoming Christian laypeople at the Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. He later came into full-time ordained ministry as a mid-life career changer. Bill and his wife Kathy have three children and a mix of grandchildren from pre-school through recent college graduates – four are biological, two step, one adopted and one foster.

Kathy and Bill walk and pray together daily and enjoy leading small bible study groups both individually and together. Bill is also a swimmer and a reader/student across a broad range of genres. This includes a Torah study with an orthodox Jewish rabbi to see what the Old Testament looks like from that perspective.

Pastor Bill gave up his motorcycle a few years ago after he, and it, went different directions on a mountain road in Utah. God’s grace and protection prevailed and he was able to walk away from that experience, albeit with a temporary limp. Now the only biking he does is to the local Safeway via pedal power. Welcome Pastor Bill and Kathy McGuinness.

Parrish Associate Reverend Carrie Lane, M.Div., C.T.

Pastor Carrie is a proud graduate of UC Davis (Go Ags!) and San Francisco Theological Seminary.  She began her ordained ministry in the Bay Area in 1994.  In addition to being our Parish Associate, she is currently a specialized minister in Stockton Presbytery working at Hospice of San Joaquin as the Manager of Bereavement Services.

She enjoys providing pulpit supply for us (and other churches in the area).   Someday, she hopes to be brave enough to copy World Renowned Minister Joyce Meyer and say “I’m preaching better than you are acting” in one of her sermons!    You just never know – it may happen soon!

She lives in Galt and is the mother of 2 busy teenagers and one sloppy dog.
