GSC Projects

Genealogy Sunshine Coast members and associates are involved in many  projects collecting and preserving the history of the local Sunshine Coast region .

Genealogy Sunshine Coast is pleased to acknowledge the support of grant funding from  Federal, State and Local government organisations and local groups who provide vital funding for our volunteers to undertake the thousands of hours of research to deliver these projects to the community. 

We acknowledge in particular: 

Sunshine Coast Regional Council for their continued support for both major and minor grants which have supported the purchase of the equipment necessary to undertake the following projects:

Digitisation and storage of Local History and records

Purchase of equipment for digital record storage and access

SCRC Community Partnership Funding for publishing of local history books and DVDs

SCRC Major grant funding towards GSC Resource Centre building extension to create a GSC Learning for Life Community Hub

SCC Mayoral Discretionary Funding Cr Greg Rogerson for assistance with our GSC building and facilities extension

Sunshine Coast Council Community Partnership funding assists with costs of our publishing program, including our latest titles, “And Their Names Shall Live Forever: Book 2 Small Cemeteries” and “Distinction by Merit: A history of the Nambour Rural School”.

A current CPCH grant assists with basic running costs to enable us to offer additional facilities and services.

Sunshine Coast Council Major Grant funding the GSC Learning for Life Community Hub, a 2016 grant for our “Keeping Cool with Solar” project and 2017 new Desktop Computers.

The above support is very much appreciated as we continue to improve our current facilities for the benefit of our whole community.

Sunshine Coast Cultural Heritage - Heritage Levy - Regional Collection Support Program 2017 for a Cloud Storage Project to create online access and backup for a series of Sunshine Coast indexes and data storage - completed 2019 and a Minor Grant in 2019 to provide updated equipment for a community scanning project in partnership with GCBF.

Gambling and Community Benefit Fund for their assistance with a major building extension, and the purchase of equipment for research, digitisation and publishing projects, as well as for community learning workshops.

Jupiters Gaming Benefit Fund for their assistance with the purchase of equipment for printing, publishing and digitisation projects, as well as for community research.

Nambour RSL Community Grant Funding for their assistance with the purchase of equipment for scanning projects.

Eumundi and District Historical Association Inc for their assistance with the purchase of equipment for digitisation and scanning projects, and community learning workshops. 

Volunteer Grant Funding - Dept of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs - for their assistance with the purchase of equipment and resources to assist our volunteers to deliver many hours of community support.
