Bucolic Cube

BUCOLIC CUBE

In 2013 Japanese puzzle designer Yasuhiro Hashimoto came up with his BUCOLIC CUBE puzzle and entered the competition the same year. I could not find it anywhere but the design was not really difficult so it was decided to build a copy for this blog only. The material used is Maple and Padouk.

Yasuhiro fully succeeded in creating a mechanical puzzle which is very simple but somewhat challenging. We are talking about 3 identical pieces which shall be put together to a 3x3x3 cube. Sounds easy and like a quick solve, however, it is this kind of puzzle where you think you finish it in a few minutes and after a while it seems suddenly impossible. It took me 1,5 hours to solve it and it felt like a huge achievment. The main issue here is your brain. It points you in certain (wrong) directions. From a difficuly rating point of view I give it a 7 out of 10 because sooner or later one will solve it.

Due to its simple design it is possible for everyone to build and have fun with it. It is really highly recommended to everyone. No matter if puzzle noob or pro. In addition, consisting only out of 3 pieces, you can easily carry it with you to bother friends at any opportunity. Try it out!
