What we've donated recently

Hello, my name is Kiernan, and I am a 10-year-old kid who, with the help of my parents, started Gift Cards for Good.

I've done other things for charity before. For example, me and my sister had a charity bake sale where we raised money for the Nature Conservancy. We made food for all the people on our street. It was a lot of work. We made $120 and then we put in $30 of our own money. Then my parents gave me a matching grant—so our total was $300.

After that, I decided that I might be able to do something EVEN bigger to help, so I came up with the idea for this website, Gift Cards for Good. I wrote this site with some help from my Mom and Dad. When we get the gift cards from people like you, I will sort them into piles that come from different stores. I will keep all the Lowes cards in one pile and all the Sears cards in another, for example. When the pile has enough money in it I will send them off to a charity who could use them.

Every single single cent we get will be going for charity. None of your donations will be going to anything other than good causes. My Mom and Dad are going to cover the money for phone calls and postage for getting the gift cards to the charities from our house.

Note that Gift Cards for Good is not a federally-recognized 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization, so donations are not tax-deductible. Until the charity is pulling in enough money to cover its legal and accounting fees, we can't apply for this status. My mom says maybe next year!
