The winner of the best turned out was Sam Parkinson, shown below, being presented the trophy by

A great big thank you to all involved in making the day a huge success.

2018 Halite Gas Storage

posted 10 Jun 2012, 13:14 by FyldeCoast Bridleways   [ updated 26 Dec 2017, 03:01 ]

Fylde Coast Bridleways has objected to all the applications for gas storage over the last ten years. We have always maintained it was not safe and our riders should be able to use the public bridleways and country lanes in the area without either threat of dangerous explosions or subsidence and without having to contend with industrial traffic. However, the department of Energy & climate change (DECC) has now granted Halite limited permission to develop the underground gas storage scheme in Preesall.Approval appears to be centred on national need. There is no mention of how the scheme might affect any proposed development of fracking or indeed of the proposal to harness the tidal power of the River Wyre with a tidal barrage, the latter promising to deliver more clean energy than any gas storage scheme. Sadly, it is now a case of watch this space and lets see what happens.
