I am writing you this letter as a supporter of the need to maintain and renovate the Sampson State Park Marina located on Seneca Lake near Romulus, New York.  Through its many years of use by the public, the Sampson State Park Marina has structurally deteriorated to the point requiring potential closing of the marina if significant repair and reconstruction are not undertaken.

The Sampson State Park and Marina is historically significant due to it’s military past, the present Navy and Air Force Veterans Museum, and the recently announced Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Sampson State Park Marina provides a valuable resource for boating, fishing, sailing, and water sports.  The Sampson State Park Marina offers boat launch and lake access, transient slips for boaters traveling on Seneca Lake and the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, seasonal slips, the only mid-Seneca Lake “Safe harbor” during storms or other emergencies, and the only mid-Seneca Lake marine sanitary waste pump-out facility.

I respectfully request the elected officials of New York State to appropriate the funds needed to complete the renovations necessary to ensure the continued public safety and use availability of the Sampson State Park Marina. The Sampson State Park Marina is a huge asset to the region which must be preserved for our current and future generations.    Thank you your consideration of this matter
