2018 Exhibition of bridal gowns

Display of local Wedding Dresses from the past 50 years

In March 2018, the year when the Beast from the East struck, the Hall had an exhibition of wedding dresses worn by local brides. Despite the weather the planning and logistics for the exhibition went ahead very successfully.

There was an amazing display of some 30 dresses, illustrating changing fashions, textures and style, each accompanied by a photo of their owner and groom.

This fine assembly of dresses was well attended from some unexpected quarters as well as locally, despite it only being held for the weekend due to other bookings.

The display was organised by Isobel Robertson, as part of the church Spring Festival that year for the newly formed parish, Mid-Strathearn – of which Fowlis Wester is part, to celebrate marriage. The support for the exhibition came not only in the generosity of people providing their dresses and those who helped set it up, but also from seamstresses, Domestic Science departments and a host of others who provided the manikins and dummies on which the dresses were displayed.

And what had been happening weather-wise
