Franklin D Roosevelt Academy services students from PreK to 8 and focuses strongly on academic rigor, collaboration, differentiated instruction, common core learning standards, and data driven instruction. Our primary goal is see students leaving our school college and career ready, while making every effort to meet each student at the point of his/her need. Through common planning times, academic intervention services, assessment in instruction, and student conferences our teachers work diligently in ensuring the success of every child. 

Our students at PS/MS 34 are actively exploring, researching, and solving complex problems to develop a deep understanding of core academic concepts that reflect college and career readiness standards.

Increasing the academic rigor does not mean more or longer homework assignments, rather, it means time and opportunity for our students to develop and apply their knowledge to navigate sophisticated and reflective learning experiences.  Our students need to build strong habits that will allow them to weigh evidence, consider varying point of views, see connections, identify patterns, evaluate outcomes, and speculate possibilities.

Through our academically rigorous program students not only gain knowledge and skills to achieve high levels of mastery, they also gain ways of thinking and doing that prepare them for college, work, and life.  Students find creative paths to resolve problems when they don't immediately know the answer.  At PS/MS 34, we set high expectations for all our students and encourage them to always aim for the stars.
