Our School

Franklin D Roosevelt Academy creates a respectful environment of collaboration and rigor, where students are encouraged to achieve, both academically and socially.  We believe the best learning occurs when the needs of individual students are determined and met.  As a collaborative learning environment, our classroom teachers, academic-intervention specialists and students work together towards identifying focused goals.

At PS/MS 34, we recognize the key to success belongs to those who know how to learn.  The academic programs offered are developmentally sequenced learning experiences that support students as they progress into literate, lifelong learners.  The core instructional program is standards-driven and incorporates theme-based units of study in literacy, problem solving and investigative mathematics, and inquiry based science.  In addition, we promote appreciation of the arts through orchestral music, visual arts, and dance.

As a school community, we celebrate diversity and encourage respect for all. It is important that we understand the whole child and work towards instilling values of integrity, respect, responsibility, perseverance and creativity.
