Homework Assignments for February 2011
Assignment 1 Develop your learning autonomy in English: listen to songs, read authentic texts, study grammar and vocabulary, get together with peers to practice speaking etc. When learning a language, practice and quantity of contact matters. Review your class notes.
Assignment 2 Do Writing task 2. Use a dictionary to help you with vocabulary. Organize your ideas in 2 paragraphs. Use connectors, such as and, but, so, however, therefore, because etc. Use your journal writing notebook.
Assignment 3 Journal writing. In your journal writing notebook, write 2 entries: one with a consolidated analysis of your academic experience in your first week of the course; another about any topic you wish to deal with in English.
Assignment 4 Piece of news. From an authentic and original news article/report in English, prepare to present a piece of news in class. Use the following expressions: "My piece of news is about..."; "It's from ... (source)"; "In my personal opinion, ..."; "In short, ..." etc.
Assignment 5 Do Writing task 7. Send your teacher an original postcard from your state (or city).
Assignment 6 Do Writing task 8. Use your other notebook for that, not the journal writing notebook. That is extra practice.
Assignment 7 Have a great time back in your hometown! See you in the last week of February.
