_____________________________________________________________________________
Credit 1 - Oral Presentation Criteria, Grading and Other Information
Topic: one of the works by an Anglophone author in any of the eras within the scope of the course, especially: the Elizabethan times; the Enlightenment, the 19th century, and the 20th century. A “problem” must be addressed, one which may be pursued and researched on throughout the course, aiming at the final paper (2nd credit)
Format: individual or pair presentation, which may be a lecture, a slide projection, a debate, a questionnaire, a dramatic performance, or all of these together and more, with the possible use of video, music, recordings, photocopies, overhead projector, and others, as long as there is coherence in their use.
Duration: INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATIONS: at least 20 minutes; maximum: 35 minutes / PRESENTATIONS IN PAIRS: at least 35 minutes; maximum: 55 minutes.
Other important notes: a) honesty, effort and dedication are more fundamental than the structure and materials used; therefore, research effort is more important than the “show”; b) some historical and cultural context integrated with the “problem” and the “object” of study is necessary; c) Do not forget to mention the sources of your information and research; d) the original texts should be read in English; quotations are supposed to be only in English; e) once having chosen the author/work for the presentation, changes must be in agreement with your professor; and f) the guide for your classmates and professor should be organized, objective and clear.
