At the moment there is not very much missing. But an amusement park would be nice, because there is not much to do in Amberg to have fun. I would say that our city needs something like a fun park with for example: roller coasters. But Amberg also needs a big mall to spend some time. A big mall with many stores, bars and some discos to have fun and relax with some friends, just to come down from an exciting, long school day for example. Although those things are still missing, I think Amberg's economy is good.




In my opinion, there are several areas to be improved in our local economy. The first and most important is providing jobs for average qualified people. In the past years a lot of companies relocated their production to less expensive countries, e.g. the Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria. Employees working in the factories became jobless because they could not follow the jobs to foreign countries. Due to missing qualification, there are no job alternatives except mini-jobs on 400,- € basis.

There is also room for improvement in the transportation network. The frequency of public transport needs to be increased from 1 hour intervals to ½ hour intervals to allow better connection from my village to Amberg to reach train services to major cities, e.g. Nuremberg, Regensburg, Munich.

Another project to be started is to reduce plastic packaging material to protect nature. Alternative bio-degradable packaging materials needs to be developed and used. To promote the new recreation area „Hirschpark“, wooden tree houses would be an attraction to get tourists to our region. They would contribute in many fields to our local economy.

In my opinion there should be more organic farmers because a lot of animals, for example pigs and chickens, are treated very badly in the factory farming.

In small towns shopping facilities are missing, because the big supermarkets are all in the city. Because of this fact, it’s difficult for old people or for people without a car to buy food or other things. Shops round the corner should be developed.

I think in our economy there is no program to help the farmers. They have no money to treat their animals in the right way. So they have too many pigs or cows with no place. The meat and milk is too cheap, so they have no money and can´t take care of all their animals. The government has ensured that there is a fixed milk price, but that´s not enough. It isn´t just that the animals can´t be treated correctly. They overbear their fields because they have to sell so many plants. Otherwise they couldn´t get enough money for their hard work. But that´s not good for nature. There should be more forest and grassy areas. When the same plant is always growing on the same place there won´t be the things which the plant needs to grow sometime. The farmers should get more money so they can take more care of their animals and the nature.

I think in Amberg one of the problems is the drinking water, because of the farmers there gets poison in our groundwater. So the wells are getting deeper. A second trouble is the motorway "B 85" that is going through Amberg. There is often a traffic jam because of this so this is bad for the environment. It's also a big problem because the hospital is in the middle of the town so when someone gets hurt, the ambulance must get through the big traffic jams and that takes often long. The last problem is that many houses in the city centre are empty so they are ugly. I think it's important to change the things for example instead of the motorway through the city a bypass should be built around the town. Or a new hospital should be built on the edge of the city.

I think there are too many traffic lights on the crossroads in our city. They should be replaced by roundabouts. I also think that there should be more waste bins in our city because they are always full. This is the reason why the waste is on the ground.

In our city there are many cars and sometimes there is a really big traffic jam, particularly in the morning and in the evening. Moreover there are too less car parks in our city. And I think there is a solution for these problems: In big cities (Munich, Berlin,…) you can borrow a bike and then you can go by bike to the place you want and then if you don’t need the bike anymore you have to lock it and then another person can take the bike and go to another place.

The economy in Amberg is good because of “Siemens” and “Grammer”. Amberg is depending on these two companies and care for the money in this town. In my opinion the local economy doesn’t have to change anything because we have enough for projects etc. and we don’t have any problems with the money. But if these companies will close then many people in Amberg would lose their job and Amberg is going to lose a lot of money and break down. I guess it would be great if we could develop the agriculture and raise money because of this it would be a good option if Amberg built new companies so the town wouldn’t break down if Siemens or Grammer closed. These are sectors that could be developed to make a more stable economy in the town of Amberg.

In my opinion the sustainable agriculture becomes less important every day in our local economy.This type of agriculture gets too less subsidized. In the long run it isn't good to support the mass production. It should be more important to look after organic farming. More people should buy organic meat, it may be more expensive but it is more worth for our environment. I think it is more important to take care of our consumption instead of money, because in the long run our planet is more important than money. It could be helpful, too, if some people switch to a vegetarian lifestyle. If you do this, the sustainable agriculture becomes more important and the animals will be saved if many people try to follow this lifestyle.

The mass production will be slowed down, too, because there is not that much meat needed anymore then. You don't need a mass production for agriculture.

My opinion of the local economy is that we should take more care about our environment and nature. For example we shouldn`t throw that much trash like plastic bottles and aluminium sockets in nature. Maybe we should more often go by bike and not by car so often, because the cars pump exhaust fumes into the air. Maybe we can save more energy by turning lights off when we leave or by keeping the warmth in our house. Another example is to buy things in our local shops to support the local economy. We shouldn’t buy the things from the internet.

I believe that in the local economy often the protection of the environment is neglected. For example, a new supermarket is built in my village. But there are already many supermarkets. I and also many other citizens believe that another is not required. Nevertheless the market will be built at the end of the village. Trees must be cut down, fields and meadows disappear. The living conditions of many birds and other animals will be destroyed.

Generally the theme environment protection should be considered better by the economy. Packing should be formed more ecologically friendly and the consumer should have to pay deposit security. The packing will be given back more often and in this way thus can become a more reprocessed one.

In my opinion in Kümmersbruck three economy buildings are missing. The first thing is a skatepark. We need one because there are many young people in Kümmersbruck who are skating. Skating is a great sport for many people and they need a place where they can do their sport. If there is a skating park many children can go skating there and do not sit in their room and play play station. In Amberg there was a skatepark but it is destroyed and it will be renovated in two years. During this time the children can´t skate in a skatepark.

The second thing is an outdoor pool. In Kümmersbruck there is no outdoor pool. Everybody must go to Amberg and there it is overfilled with people. And if in Kümmersbruck there is an outdoor pool the people of Kümmersbruck can go there. It will be nice because then the people in Amberg have their own outdoor pool and Kümmersbruck has its outdoor pool and the outdoor pools won´t be overfilled.

The last thing is a bowling center. This is a good idea because in Amberg there is a bowling center but it is like the outdoor pool it is overfilled. There are too many people and you are lucky if you get a bowling alley. You must reserve one to get one. Many people do bowling as their sport and they must drive to Amberg to do their sport and if a bowling center is in Kümmersbruck they can do their sport here.

I think that we have lots of shops in our town in relation to its size. But I miss attractive activities for teenagers. And in my opinion it´s a big problem that there are too little shops to buy things, especially clothes, that are fair-traded and environmentally sustainably produced. In our town, there are only clothes shops that produce their products in Bangladesh with the help of exploited workers. I think that that´s the biggest problem in our economy.

I'm living near the city of Amberg. Amberg is a small town. It has nearly 50.000 inhabitants. In our local economy there are two big companies, where many people work. The companies are "Siemens" and "Grammer". I miss other big employers. If I want to work in the science or high tech business there are not many possibilities in Amberg. We don't produce computers here, for example. There is less chemical and no car industrie here in Amberg, too. In my opinion these kinds of industry should be developed here in Amberg.

I would be glad to work as a car constructor. If I want to do this in the future, I cannot work in Amberg. I have to commute or move to a town like Ingolstadt or Munich. But Amberg is a lovely town and I would like to stay here. I hope, the possibilities will increase.

I think that everyone should be paid fair for what he does. If somebody does nothing to earn money to live it’s his problem but if somebody works hard he should get the money he or she deserves. In my opinion that is missing. Often the people are not paid fair for what they do.

I think that the local economy should be developed from its basics because there are too many gaps which have to be filled. I know that this is very difficult but we can try and we can do the same with the gaps what we did already: We already have a great economy but not the perfect one we could have. Some things should be changed and if many people agree everything is possible!

The local economy should be more environmentally conscious,for example there should be more parks in the cities, because many cities have no parks although it would look really nice and it would be a good idea and the local economy should support electric cars because electric cars are not properly promoted although it is important to support them because cars pollute the environment too much with their exhaust gases polluting the air. But the most important thing that is missing in the local economy is a local garment manufacturer. A big local manufacture is important because there is just a big clothing chain in big cities but not in small cities. The sectors energy production and a big clothing chain in small cities should be developed, because they are really important and if we don’t recognize that they are so important for our community sometime it will be too late to support these important sectors.

In the village, where I live in, we nearly have no economy at all. There is only a bakery and a car and farming vehicle dealer. Every time you want to buy food, you have to go to the next town by car, which is harmful for the environment. For all the other things you have to go to the next city or you buy them online. So it is questionable if it is good to live in such a small village at all. Better would be, if you can live in a small town, where you get everything for your daily life. If everybody buys online, the local shops can’t survive. In Amberg should be more high tech companies and innovative enterprises. The higher skilled staff would not be so dependent on the most important employer Siemens. The graduates would not have to move to Nuremberg or Munich and the local economy and infrastructure would stay strong.

Near Amberg there are products like cheese, milk and bread produced, but I don`t really pay attention because my usual breakfast is a cup of hot chocolat or some cereals like „frosties“ for example. But at the weekend we often eat sausages, cheese, fried eggs, fruit, vegetables and bread so the things that are produced near Amberg, on farms for example.

Eating healthy things is very important, to get all necessary vitamines and minerals the body needs. Breakfast is the basis to get the energy for the day. My parents buy fresh food, like bread, fruit and vegetables as well as fresh sausages daily from the shops at our village. A farmer is offering a fresh milk „filling-station“ nearby. No preservatives are added and packaging material is not necessary since the milk can be filled in our own glass bottles.

We don’t buy jam since my grandparents prepare home made jam out of strawberries, cherries, red current and plums from our own garden. Vegetables from our garden are conserved and frozen for later consumption. For me and my family it is very important to buy from local producers. We know the origin of the food and we ensure that their business can continue.

For my daily breakfast I have lots of products that are produced locally. I drink milk from a nearby diary station every day and I pay attention that all milk products are produced locally, for example butter, cheese and quark. I also buy the sausages on the farmers’ market where the farmers of the region sell their products on Saturdays and fruits, for example apples, cherries and pears are sold there, too. I don’t buy bread in the supermarket, because I prefer the bread of the bakery near my house.

In summer my family and me, we pick berries from our garden and my mother cooks jam of the fruits. I think that it is very important that the products are produced locally, because the environment is protected (the transport routes are short).

Monday until Friday I eat not very much. A glass of water, which comes of course from nearby places, and a toast. The toast is from here too and we often have homemade jam. At the weekend I eat rolls or croissants which are bought from the backery near our home. I know that the most things they use to bake are produced locally like the flour. But special things like rare nuts are not always from here. Our milk is most of the time from nearby farms but not always. I take care about where our food is from but when you want to eat things like pineapple there is no other way because some fruits or plants don´t grow here or animals don´t live here. I think people should pay more attention to these things and don’t buy strawberries in winter.

The products which are made locally at my home are for example the milk and the eggs we eat often, or the bread. My mother buys organic food from Bavaria. I think it's important to pay more and buy locally organic food to keep the nature and the animals healthy. Often people forget that they can't live without all these things that gave us nature. So they only look at the price of the food not the producing country. I think it's also a problem that there are many poor and homeless people in the world who can't afford these costs! It is a too high price for them! So they buy the cheap ones. I want to support the locally produced food, because it's not only healthy for us, it's also good for our environment. We have to strengthen the environment protection for the next generations of life!

It is important for me to know if the food I eat is produced locally or not. Here are some examples: My uncle is a farmer and he has cows. I drink the milk he produces. I really like honey. The grandpa of my cousin has got bees and we get the honey from him. I also like jam which is made of the fruit in our garden. In Amberg there is a strawberry field and in the summer we go there and then we pick up fresh strawberries and at home we make a strawberry cake. We also make jam of them.

We buy bread in the bakery and not in a supermarket where the bread is packaged. We buy the milk products (butter, cream,…) from the local producers. I think it’s important that the workplaces in our region will survive and that the products don’t have to be transported a long way.

Healthy lifestyle is a very important thing for me so I’m paying attention to what I buy and eat. Me and my parents aren’t always trying to buy food which is produced locally but there are many things, we’re eating which are from here. The products, we have for breakfast are almost completely local like milk, eggs, ham, cheese and so on. Although we are going to the butcher to buy meat where we know that the meat there is produced locally and fresh. Even if the products there are more expensive than in a normal supermarket. Then my parents and I are getting our milk from the dairy station because there aren’t any chemicals in the milk. These are the reasons why local food is important to me and my parents.

I thought of my daily breakfast, bread with butter and nutella, and then I thought about healthy lifestyle and noticed that mine isn't that healthy. So what im going to try is to eat more healthy, because it's better for my body and my soul to eat like this. The next time I'm going in my kitchen I try not to pick the sweet things for breakfast, maybe an apple or something like that. But for some people it isn't enough to just eat an apple instead of something sweet for breakfast, so they try to figure out where their fruits are from. For these guys it's pretty important to eat "Fair-Trade" so they can feel even better when they eat their apple for breakfast. But just trying to live healthy doesn't mean that you can't eat sweets anymore. If you want to live healthy just reduce the use of them. So my opinion to "Healthy lifestyle" is that it's a pretty nice lifestyle which everyone should have tried once in their life.

I know that at our local farms produce milk, butter, cheese, meat and eggs. At the farms grow wheat and corn, which are sold to the local bakeries. The butcher buys the meat and sells it to the people. But we don`t buy meat at the typical supermarket, but at the butcher who we trust. But we buy the cheese, butter and milk at the local supermarket. At the local bakery we buy bread and rolls for our breakfast, because we know where these are from. To sum up, we buy some things at the supermarkets but most at the local bakery and butcher.

- juice

Lots of those things we make ourselves. For example cake, juice or jam. My mother buys the eggs and milk from a farmer in our village. We get honey from a bee-master near my grandma. Sometimes we eat apples from our garden or we get grapes from neighbours. We buy our bread from a bakery which takes the corn from farmers in our eighbourhood. Coffee unfortunately doesn't grow in our country so we have to buy it in a super market.

If everybody buys these things from a shop our farmers get poor. Nobody wants to get poor. For breakfast I eat eggs from the farmers, butter from the farmers, milk from the farmers and bread from the farmers. I pay much attention to the products because some of the products of a shop are expired and you can´t eat them anymore. If I buy it from a farmer I know that it is fresh and new. The farmers have fresh things everyday and because of this I know that it is the best shop for these things.

When I get up in the morning, I have my breakfast. During the week I eat before school. At weekends, most times, I have breakfast together with my parents. On school days I normally eat fuit salad or yogurt. My mom prepares the fruit salad with fruit out of our garden, or in the winter we buy organic fruit in a supermarket. The yogurt is sometimes from our local farmers' market. On weekends we have a bigger breakfast. We have bread, boiled eggs, sausage products, jam, vegetables. My mom buys this very often at our local butcher, bakery or at a farmer, who is in our village. There are different reasons to buy local products. In my view, these things have a better taste and they are not driven "through the hole country". This helps to save gasoline and not to pollute our environment.

First of all I have to say that I’m not the one who only buys fair trade products and I agree if somebody tells me to do that but it’s not that easy it sounds. I’m interested in where the products I buy are from but I don’t search the whole market only to find the same products only because it’s produced locally. I don’t think that it’s that important that something is produced locally. The important thing is in my opinion is that it’s fair traded ...I don’t really pay attention to this which actually is a shame.

Usually I do not pay attention whether my food is locally produced or not but through this exercise I have recognized that it is really important whether we support the local economy or not and in the future I will pay attention if my food is produced locally or not,because it is really important that we support the local economy. Especially this is really important because fewer and fewer people support the local economy,because they don’t think that that is a really important thing but it is really important and every person should pay attention if his food is locally produced or not, because it is really important to pay intention to this.

For my breakfast I’m having bread from my local bakery we don’t have to go to by car. Milk and butter are coming from Bavarian producers. We don’t buy the cheapest products with the intention that the farmers get paid a fair price. Our honey comes from a nearby village.

Often we obtain potatoes from a farmer. When we buy eggs we also pay attention that they come from places we know. We drink apple juice that is made from our own apples. The fruit press is located in the neighborhood. We also grow tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, quinces, pears, berries and plums in our own garden. So we don’t have to buy them in summer. We often try to buy locally but sometimes it is difficult to get information about the origin of the food especially meat products. Besides this we care for only buying fruit that has its season.
