Stephan Baese

Stephan Baese
I have  been introduced to NVC about 5 years ago and been going to courses since and trying to put learnings into action in daily life. I would like to have a bigger impact and maybe train or facilitate meetings for empathy trainings or gatherings.

Meeting 2016-06-08

Intention for this meeting

Learn more about the possibility and the resources and how others do give their know how about empathy forward. May how I can contribute in the organisation too.

Jennifer interviews Stephan

What is the most important question that you want to answer?

Why is important to me to teach empathy. Trying to be with the other person rather than react. Something changes, I like to be near the person.

Broader implications: it is hard image, maybe the small steps, the little interactions is like a ripple” effect.

Being present with people I don’t react, When I am aware, I hold back, that something changes, they can say what their needs are. I can see they feel heard and I feel it in my body.

I would like more of that myself. Even when I give empathy, it gives something to me.

And why is that important?

  • I would like to have more of that around me, Something shifts. Age is not important anymore.
  • I want to be near that person.
  • I want to contribute. I don’t know how.
  • I want to be interested in the people I am near and I want them to be interested in me.

I’m hearing, There is a big shift in when empathy is present. Empathy transform the relationship. You enjoy it when you receive empathy. You're not sure how to go about doing it?

What is the broader implication?

The small steps and the little interactions have a ripple effect and good things can happen. If I have too much of a vision and there are lots of visions around, I feel too much pressure to contribute and put things in action. Then be disappointed.

What’s possible for me? Still wanting to contribute but without the pressure.

If I have to much of a vision, it creates to much pressure to put it into action.
