This is Cayratia pedata. In Tamil Nadu, it is very commonly distributed in the dry forests especially nearer to streamlets
Leaves pedately 7-foliate; Fruit, a berry, sub-globose, cream colored (not pink in my view). Unable to comment on pubescence. Feel this could be Cayratia pedata. Yes. I agree with the identification of ... I donot know I how missed this plant in Chennai. A new plant to me.
