Why so much difference in the flowering season?

What does the literature say?

It says flowering in Mar-May.
To me looks different from images at Viola diffusa Ging. and as per FOC illustration
Did not find a match as per comparative images at Viola
Pl. check with other species as per checklist of Nepal.

Actually I did check all these beforehand and re-checked.  I did not find exact match to any one but some closeness to V. diffusa however it is for me regarding the flowering seasonality.
The green patch in the center of the flower and the leaf pattern looks like matching.
Enclosing some links for comparison.

Leaf base is different form those at images at Viola diffusa Ging. and as per FOC illustration

url ?? url ?? url
Any similarity in above links ??

I could only open one url link. Here also leaf base is different.
Instead of just creating link with url, it will be nice if it is created on name of the relevant site etc. e.g. Flora of Singapore, FOC illustration etc. as I give in references.

The links were from the net and I just tried to copy and paste. These are not from specific sites. I checked all possible but could not get a match. Do not know which one is this ?
I got opinion from ...
I think it’s Viola diffusa, the description in Flora of Bhutan perfectly match with the photos. I also looked at type specimen: https://plants.jstor.org/stable/viewer/10.5555/al.ap.specimen.bm001191014
So I would go with Viola diffusa.

Viola species in eFloraofindia with comparative images (also with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net)

I think it is Viola pilosa..
I have seen Viola pilosa. This does not match with V.pilosa according to Flowers of India
I think it is not Viola pilosa Blume as per images and details herein.
It is something else.

Do you know what are the species reported from your area ?
Would probably rule out Viola pilosa & Viola sikkimensis. Leaves are hairy here. Haven't come across this spp.
I checked with lot of other species mentioned in flora of Bhutan which are reported from East Himalayas like V. paravaginata, V. cameleo Boissieu, V. placida Becker, V. sikkimensis Becker and V. thomsonii Oudemans (which are not already available in our database as per comparative images at ‎Viola‎), but I could not find a match.

This is most likely to be Viola canescens as per comparative images at Viola
The only clearly visible characters are the winged petioles, hair on the leaves, purple flowers with slightly hairy sepals.
Can ... confirm if there was a spur or not? If there was a short spur, one could look at Viola diffusa. If not, then I am not sure. The only spurless species mentioned in FOC is Viola hederacea which is native to Australia.
I am attaching a pdf from Flora of China for further reference.

Thank you for the identification. I totally agree with the observations of the characters by ... (the only clearly visible characters are the winged petioles, hairs on the leaves, purple flowers with slightly hairy sepals) The time I took these photos, I was not sure what to look at. With the pictures I have, I too think it is V.diffusa. It might have a short spur quite not visible here, though you can get a hint in the image I am attaching here.

Thank you ... for the additional image. I agree with you that your viola is likely to be V. diffusa. But violas are very deceptive and we may learn it is an entirely different species.
If you happen to visit the area anytime in the near future, you can always have a relook.

I also agree.
I am surprised how I missed it with good observations already in efi site at Viola diffusa
It should be Viola diffusa, with prominently winged leaf-stalks.
