This Violet is smaller that the other Viola (canescens?) we get.
It's markedly whiter with less pale centre and the top petals are more horizontal. Leaves are the same shape and are beautifully symmetrical with tiny hair. Please advise.

viola 3 for id mm3 24062012: viola pilosa perhaps

himachal pradesh
second week of march
I agree with you, a description - http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=200014403.
I think more likely to be Viola canescens Wall. rather than Viola pilosa Blume as per keys and details herein.
But can not be confirmed with these images.
Viola canescens looks better option

Viola Species for ID : Doodhpathri, Kashmir : 22MAR20 : AK-01 : 6 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (3)
You have been reviewing Viola Species recently.
Posting this Species from Doodhpathri, near Srinagar seen in April 2016.
Guess I missed posting it earlier.
Sorry for the poor quality of images. Light was very low due to a hail storm.
Leaf and habitat images would have been easier for ID.
Thanks ... Leaves are seen in the second picture.
Here are some habitat images although not very clear due to very low light. Hope these help.
Difficult to say much with these images.
However, Viola pilosa Blume is possible.
On further checking, it may not be Viola pilosa Blume
Pl. post original images one by one including habitat images for more scrutiny.
Here are the images.
Some how I can't find the original habit images.
Let me search.
2 Attachments- more than 2 mb each.

One more...
1 image- 5.8 mb.
I could find a close up of the flower.
... should know which species are seen in that area.
It appears close to Viola indica, but hairs seen on the inside of petals make the id doubtful.
Also leaves are also not clear.
So it better to leave it unidentified.
Could be Viola odorata
The leaves look similar.
Was it cultivated ?
It was seen growing wild by the roadside.
Not cultivated.
Viola odorata may be possible. But can not say with these images.
Though leaves are not very clear but from whatever visible looks like V. canescens, V. pilosa (syn: V. serpens) would have acuminate leaves.
Thanks a lot ...
I had seen Viola Species in Nainital which was identified as Viola canescens.
But the flowers were much lighter in color.
That got me confused.
