Tree for ID-18032011-PR-3 From Chennai:  There was a pair of these trees with large leaves in the Theosophical
Society, Chennai.
Please help me with the ID.

This is one of the unidentified trees.  Theosophical society is a place to see rare trees.   It has more than 120 species of trees ( recorded by me).  Of course a few have not yet been identified.
Mostly they are exotic and planted by foreign dignitaries who visit the TS.  Many have brought the saplings from their countries and planted.
Then one must hope that some of our overseas members will be able to spot the foreigner in our midst.
When are you visiting Chennai, Sir?

The total of 120 species is tantalising!  I am looking forward to  your leading us on a Tree-walk  in this treasure trove of trees. Did you see that the Butea is in full bloom?  Thanks for the tip re the Gustavia. It was a beautiful sight though it had HUGE bees on the flowers.

Grass for ID please:  Found this grass in an area prone to water logging in Jamnagar, Gujarat. A hardy species. Stem is strong and Typha like but not so thick.
Height about 2-2.5m when fully grown.

Any Clerodendrum species. Not sure.
When I search in google, for Clerodendrum species
I don't see anything matching this.
Also, this is a small tree compared to the shrubs in the above mentioned species
Some features appear to be of Genus Cordia ....But can't think any further.
Adding few more pictures
Fagraea fragrans
Thanks to the above site, I got two of my long standing requests.
For me the identification is doubtful. The photographs do not match well with the photographs of F.fragrans in the web. Comments from experts needed. Perhaps I may be wrong.
I think it is ixora pavetta
I do not think that this is a species of Ixora.
Yes I agree with ..., calyx lobes are clearly below the ovary/young fruit. Not a member of Rubiaceae.

TREE id please: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PVLy6a6ItD6F8AXozM7rHcGhfhX4LgKSWhPHpl9lKvo/edit?pli=1

Species of the genus Schefflera in Araliaceae family has palmately-compound leaves.
Here the leaves are simple.
Hence I don't think this would be a species of Schefflera.

26042010GS1 tree from Nainital for ID: Having little knowledge about tropical and subtropical trees (except some growing in Delhi), I tend to mix them. This was the tree growing along Nainital lake and known as Bangar (as a local told me). The other tree identified by ... as Lannea coromedelica grows common along hillsides.

Could this be what ... suggested as Boswellia serrata, a very wild guess though. Perhaps two forms are growing side by side, one with perfectly green leaves and one having leaves with reddish tinge.
The tree looks quite like Boswellia serrata as you mentioned.
I think this is not Boswellia serrata. It somewhat resembles Lannea coromandelica.
I thought they look different, especially the hanging inflorescence along with leaves. Let us see other views. I am novice regarding trees.
The plant is not Lannea coromandelica. L.c. is a very common avenue tree in Chennai. I have beautiful photographs of this plant . I will post them after searching from my old files.
I am also of the opinion that it is something else.
