Sapindaceae or Annonaceae or Verbenaceae?:  I send you again pictures of the last "like Verbenaceae".
This is not Humboldtia decurrens
Kindly see from the link below
http://www.biotik.org/india/species/h/humbdecu/humbdecu_09_en.html
it is not Filicum decpiens as the leaflet apexin this case is acuminate and the winged ares is narrow where as in Filicum decipiens the winged portion is broad and rounded at apex and leaflets acute.
I think it is going near to some Rhus sp. (Anacardiaceae)

Update Tree for ID 20042011NVR2: Kindly identify the flowering tree. The tree behind is mimusops elengi.
A guess. Some Oleaceae member.  Any close up photographs  possible?
very interesting, where was this taken? is it native or wild? was it leafless? Looks like some rubiaceae, I am guessing Gardenia or perhaps Coffea
I am not able to make out, The background tree appears to be Mimusops elangi (Sapotaceae).

Strangler fig - Dandeli WLS: Strangler fig in Dandeli. Not sure what the host tree is!
More than 23 species of Ficus has been recorded from the Western Ghats. Most of them start their life as straggler because the get dispersed by birds and germinate on the branches of trees.

Unless you get the close up of at least the leaves with petiole where you can clearly see the venation, characteristics of fig is also important to confirm the species. Sometimes you need the fig in hand and dissect to see characters hidden inside the fig.

Unidentified tree - Anshi NP:  Is this Dipterocarpus indicus? Sorry I do not have pictures of the leaves.
Based on the photograph of the trunk  it is generally not possible to identify the taxa.   One should always send the closeups of foliage, flowers, fruits (whatever available) and details of the plant for ID.
You may also follow the guidelines of eflora while posting the plants for ID.
It is surely not Dipterocarpus but my wild guess for stands for Diospyros sp.

1803011-PR For ID- Chennai:  There were two of these tall trees with drooping branches at the
Theosophical Society in Chennai.
As there were no flowers or fruit, I am sending several pics of the leaves.
Pictures TS 006,007 and 008    are those of Pongamia pinnata.
Pictures TS 006, 007, 008 are of *Pterocarpus indicus* Willd.
Last 3 fotos look like some Pterocarpus (may be P. santalinus) and first 4 fotos look like some Sapindaceae member
I think the the last three pics are not *P.santalinus;* but looks more like *Pongamia pinnata*.

Patuli Kolkata, India

Could someone tell me which plant it is on?

I request you to post photos of the habit, leaf and the inflorescence of the plant. With this photo, we can only guess the identity.

A Wasp: Lovely pix.  The plant appear to be a Poinsettia, Euphorbia sps, but a wild one, found quite commonly in Kolkata. One can see the fairly large leaf, serrated at the edges, veined all over and the collection of incomplete flower w/o the red petals.

Pl. identify following  plant.
Date: 14.11.2010
place: Dalhousiae, Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh

Not Daphne, the flowers are too large. May be Rhododendro
Those leaves look serrate to me and the undersurface of the leaves dont point towards Rhododendron. I may be wrong though. Actually I cant remember of any Rhododendron which doesnt have pale pubescent undersurface of leaf.

FORWARDING THE PHOTO OF LEAF (JUST LIKE SEMAL TREE):  I AM RESIDING IN RAJKOT GUJARAT AND IN OUR CITY WE HAVE SOME 4 ODD TREES WHICH ARE LOOK-A-LIKE TO SEMAL TREE (INDIAN COTTON TREE) BUT I HAVE SEARCHED THE I-NET BUT I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS TREES SEEMS SOME KIND OF DIFFERENT TO ME AS THERE ARE NO THORNS ON THE TRUNK, NETHER IT BEARS THE CUCUMBER LIKE FRUITS FROM WHICH COTTON THREADS ARE EXTRACTED.

I AM NO EXPERT IN THIS NOR ANY RESEARCHER SIR, BUT I AM CURIOUS TO FIND OUT RICH NATURAL RESOURSES OF OUR REGION, IN GENERAL FOR OUR INDIA, I THINK NO BODY IS GIVING SUCH DEVOTED TIME FOR EXTENSIVE SURVEY OR IDENTIFICATION OF RICH BIO-DIVERSITY OF INDIAN SUBCONTINENT.

I'M SENDING THE LEAF (COPY SCANNED) FOR SOME INFORMATION ON THIS SPECIES.
CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME OUT IN IDENTIFYING THE TREE?

Is this by any chance any cultivar of *Lagenaria siceraria*
To me, it looks like a Marsh melon before it is ripe?  A wild guess.
