Liberian Coffee at Madikeri
Coffea liberica, native of west coast of Africa; cultivated elsewhere in tropics.
This coffee plant grows to become a medium-sized tree ... all aspects of this plant are larger compared to those of C. robusta and C. arabica.
Seen at Kodagu Valley Resort as a garden plant ... 30 MAR 11.
Nice pictures ... Though the taste of this coffee is not very good, it has very good deep roots and if one grafts the Robusta or Arabica on these stem, the grafted sprouts could be healthy.

TSP-JAN2016-07-07: Images of Coffea liberica (Rubiaceae) : 1 post by 1 author. Attachments (5)

It is my pleasure to share few images of Coffea liberica (Rubiaceae) the elder brother of the more popular C.arabica and C.canephora .The coffee powder obtained from C.liberica is inferior in quality to that of its siblings.

Habit: Tree that is constantly pruned to maintain it as a shrub.

Habitat: Cultivated. Often planted along the boundary of Arabica and Robusta plantations.

Sighting: Chikmagalur, Karnataka, about 1200 msl

Date: 18-03-2015 and 01-01-2016
