Close to Rubus niveus but not sure.
One must put the place and date of finding a new plant for ID. This seems from a hill station and ... ID is correct as Rubus niveus. This is the plant found wild at high altitudes in W. ghats and is also cultivated at hill stations as Raspberry

Rubus Species seen in a cultivated garden during July.
I hope Rubus ellipticus

Thanks for the id.
This is the Yellow Himalayan Raspberry?
The ripe fruits, not clearly seen were dark purplish in color.
Does not look like Rubus ellipticus, I think this is more likely to be Rubus niveus...
Thanks for your feedback.
Your suggested id looks more like my pictures, on searching.
Another similar one seen in Kenya, which I forgot to post earlier, will post today.
It could be Rubus niveus.

Rubus niveus Thunb.
Many thanks to ... for the ID in my photostream at flickr.
(cultivated) at Mahabaleshwar on April 18, 2015
Nice photo again! But these images I think belong to Rubus lasiocarpus or its variety (I will confim later). Pl. find type image of R. niveus below and match your images (Wallichian specimen from Nepal no. 734).
Attachments (1)
Thank you very much ... for validating this ID.
I went by the general knowledge that the extensively cultivated Rubus for its edible fruits is R. niveus. The fact must be incorrect OR there could be more than one species of Rubus that is cultivated. Will wait for your confirmation.
Both as per GRIN as well as per The Plant List,  Rubus lasiocarpus Sm. is a synonym of Rubus niveus Thunb.
Thanks ... for this information. I had not checked on it.
Yet, the Plants List is not fully confident about this synonymy, so hoping ... comments and helps us with clarity.
Yes Rubus lasiocarpus of FBI is now R. niveus Thunb., characterised by pinnate leaves with more than 3 leaflets
Rubus niveus Wall featured in FBI has now different varieties upgraded as different species all with trifoliate leaves, commonest is R. hypagyrus uploaded by me.

This is what I had mention in my last post as in Uttarakhand or at least in Uttarkashi Dist, this plant is known as "Kali Hisar" locally and fruits are edible when they fully ripe - turning black.
Flowers are pinkish, unfortunately I do not pic of flowers to share with you all.
2 images.

-Yes .. This plant is very distinct in pinnate rose-like leaves and was earlier known as R. lasiocarpus.

Yes, very soothing images, with required details...

This may also be Rubus pedunculosus or some other species as in your another thread: Fwd: SK9APR5-2016:ID- Rubus niveus Thunb. or Rubus macilentus Cambess.

I also think it as Rubus pediculosis

I agree with … id as Rubus foliolosus var racemosus as per keys in Flora of Chamoli (synonym for Rubus niveus Thunb.) as these images look different from those at Rubus pedunculosus

It looks most close to Rubus foliolosus var racemosus...need to check closely.

Rubus in flora of Chamoli.

1 image.

Thanks, ...
Here is the key for genus Rubus from Flora Simlensis as per efi thread :
Flowers white
      Leaves simple, lobed....................................................................................R. paniculatus Smith
      Leaves compound
Lower surface of leaflets green, glabrous................................................R. macilentus Camb.
Lower surface of leaflets gray- or white-tomentose
Stem and branches shaggy, with long tawny bristles.........................R. ellipticus Smith
Stem and branches glabrous, covered with white bloom...................
R. biflorus
Flowers Pink, leaves compound
Leaflets 3, rarely 5; calyx lobes long pointed; druplets pink.........................R. niveus Wall (now correctly known as R. pedunculosus D. Don)
Leaflets 5-11, calyx lobes acute; drupelets black.........................................R. lasiocarpus Smith (now correctly known as R. niveus Thunb.)

Looks matching, however,  enclosing some links for comparison and final validation.

I think it needs more discussion on R.niveus. Most lieterature states R.niveus with leaflets 5-7, which may hv 3 in terminal leaves but not consistently 3 all over.

I am a bit skeptical about the ID.  Are the both posts from same ID?
I guess the later post look like Rubus macilentus Cambess. (accepted name).
efi page on Rubus macilentus
Does not seem to match with ... images at Rubus macilentus
efi pages on Rubus niveus & Rubus niveus var. pauciflorus with images

Last image may be of some other species from different plant.
To me appears close to images at Rubus nepalensis except for the colour of the flowers.
The flowers on this particular plant are a hermaphrodite, meaning it has both female and male flowers as per Wikipedia
Pl. check flower colours, if such details are available in your literature. I am unable to find these.

Yes the last image looks different but it is definitely not the R. nepalensis since it is hardy shrub and R. nepalensis is soft stem runner.
I checked with the EFN description and looks like matches with R.niveus. Could you please look into this once again?
Not R.niveus as per:
Here is the key for genus Rubus from Flora Simlensis as per efi thread :
Flowers white

May be Rubus pedunculosus as per Rosaceae Fortnight: Rubus hypagyrus from Chopta Mandal Road in Uttarakhand Pl. validate-GSSEP103/103 or some other species.
Looks correct as suggested. Rubus pedunculosus D.Don
This may also be Rubus foliolosus var racemosus (synonym for Rubus niveus Thunb.) as per keys in Flora of Chamoli as suggested by … in another thread: Rubus niveus Thunb. as these images look different from those at Rubus pedunculosus

Rubus hypagyrus Edgew. photographed from along Chopta Mandal Road, please validate
Trifoliate leaves indicate R.hypargyrus Edgew. which is now Rubus pedunculosus D.Don.

Thanks a lot ... for latest name.
Yes, it is Rubus pedunculosus D.Don (accepted name).  R. hypargyrus var. niveus (Wall. ex G.Don) Hara is one of its synonyms.

Tempting. Is it also eatable ?
Yes, ... It is next only to Rubus ellipticus. Second best.
What about Rubus fruticosus?
Ripe fruits of R. fruticosus are black in colour.
Rubus species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net)
Can it be Rubus foliolosum???

I think does not match with images at

May be Rubus pedunculosus as per images and details herein.
Pl. check.
I think finally it should be Rubus niveus as per details and images herein as per
Flowers Pink or red:
   Leaflets 3.
Large rambling shrubs: flowers solitary or in pairs … Rubus foliolosus D. Don (synonym for Rubus niveus Thunb.)
Low procumbent shrubs; flowers in short terminal racemes … Rubus foliolosus var. racemosus (Hook.f.) B.D. Naithani (synonym for Rubus niveus Thunb.)
Leaflets 5-7, upper sometimes with 3 leaflets … Rubus niveus Thun.
Thank you for the key to species.
According to this, it should be R. niveus.
However, these plants are quite different in leaf shape, leaflet number, inflorescence and  fruit morphology and taste.
Thanks, … That is why they have been kept separately in Flora of Chamoli.

Which Rubus is this?

May be Rubus macilentus.

I am afriad it is not matching!
Looks somewhat close to Rubus niveus with smooth, purplish scrambling stem and compound leaves. However, the fruit is orange and not that compact.. but later turns black...

Is it not the same as Rubus biflora as posted by you in another thread?

No ..., it is not !

R hypargyrus looking at long acuminate double toothed terminal leaflets and calyx. Flowers could have confirmed the I'd.

Thank you ... Guess correct ID. I shall try to capture flower in the coming season. By the way could you please suggest the flowering time for this sp.
EFN says there are three more var. of this sp.
To me looks different from images at Rubus pedunculosus
Same plant on 27 May 2019.
ID validation please !

Closest I can go as per comparative images at Rubus is Rubus niveus Thunb.

Rubus pedunculosus D.Don ??
syn : Rubus hypargyrus Edgew.

Looks different from images at Rubus pedunculosus D. Don
Also could not find a match as per comparative images at Rubus

Going by inflorescence, buds and flowers in it-  I think it is close to images at Rubus niveus Thunb.

To me also appears close to images at Rubus niveus Thunb.

I guess this is not Rubus niveus Thunb. since description says abaxially gray tomentose but it is not.
So could it be some other sp.??

Leaves appearing different
I find great variation in this species as per posts in efi site. Leaves certainly look different. Let us try if there are close species to it.

I think this should be Rubus niveus only as per discussions in other threads like:

Which Rubus sp. ??

I think it should be Rubus niveus as per comparative images at Rubus

This seems to be very complicated species. I am not sure but looks slight different.

Looks matching but too much variation in leaf shape!
Rubus inopertus (Focke) Focke ??
Looks different from Rubus inopertus
Yes ...!

Which Rubus ?

Pl. check Rubus niveus
To me appears close.

Why is it so difficult to ID Rubus sp?
From POWO:
Leaves : 2–3-jugate
Leaflets: inferior surface white-felted, the midrib not prickly.
ACFPN: abaxially gray tomentose, adaxially soft hairy along veins or glabrate. FoI: densely pale grey to white velvety beneath
Pl. do not confuse already confused genus with these until somebody is Expert in the matter.
This species include many species which once used to be independent species.
That is why many sources give contradicting details and there descriptions are made on specimen studied by them or borrowed from other sources
OK ...!
