There has been long-term confusion and uncertainty as to how to distinguish between SOME forms of Rosa webbiana and the xerophytic forms of Rosa macrophylla. This matter needs further investigation.

Yes .... Often confuses with R. webbiana
At the present time, I consider this does come within what I understand to be Rosa macrophylla. ... is correct that
confusion with some forms of Rosa webbiana exists.

Rosaceae Week : Rose Fruits for ID : 061011 : AK-2:  Picture taken at Pahalgam, Kashmir on the 7th of Sept,11.
Found growing wild on a slope very close to Lidder River.
These look similar to the ones posted by ... Rosa webbiana from Ladakh.

Rosa macrophylla, I wrote there also
On the basis of the hips (unfortunately not in close-ups but still appear quite distinctive) I am in agreement with... that this is probably Rosa macrophylla.

VOF Week 290812_DS_02: Wild roses , near teh entry point of VOF.
Rosa macrophylla (family Rosaceae).
I am still waiting for upload of Rosa webbiana. Should have been common at lowers altitudes. May be flowering was over. It is much similar to Rosa macrophylla but calyx lobes are smaller not with expanded tips.
I do consider these come within Rosa macrophylla.

Plz confirm the ID of Rosa macrophylla from Kashmir

Fwd: Rosa macrophylla in Ladakh? : 1 post by 1 author.
I have just noticed that Stewart records Rosa macrophylla as a very common and very variable pink rose in N.Pakistan, Ladakh and Kashmir @ 2100-3600m. I had thought it was NOT recorded from Ladakh.
CLEARLY, there has been long-standing confusion between some forms of Rosa webbiana and some forms of R.macrophylla.....
Flowers of the Himalaya says "There are many forms of R.macrophylla which are hardly distinguishable from R.webbiana".
This NEEDS further study.

Fruit for Id pl.Is it some wild Pomegranate ?
Location - Near Key Monastery, Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
Date- 28.08.2015
Habitat -Wild
This looks to wild rose, fruits of Rosa sp.
I also feel it is wild rose hip only.
These hips seem to be closest to what I understand to be is a xerophytic form of Rosa macropyhlla - rather than the common
xerophytic rose of Ladakh, Rosa webbiana.
