This looks correct - COMPLETELY different to the plants photographed in Spiti which are posted above. Flowers of the Himalaya says rocks @ 3000-5000m from Pakistan to SW China. I am in agreement with ... that this is Potentilla eriocarpa, so cannot understand how the Potentilla from Spiti was so mistakenly named as this species.

Attachments (1) I shall be postings more up-to-date digital images of close-ups of Potentilla eriocarpa in future postings by came across this slide from late 1980s I think, which I have scanned in. Not terribly good quality with yellow flowers not exposed well but gives good impression of typical habitat - in this case the rocks were dripping with water.
