- Nice micro before i enlarged the photo i thought is was a bunch of moss !! - Nice details of fruiting perianth - Beautiful picture. I never really cared to check so closely. Habitat: untended area in Joshimath town Habit: herb, standing about 1 m I hope Rumex nepalensis I have a doubt. I found and collected 5 species in Imphal, including what is posted here. However, I could not get the exact key to identify the species. I had posted in this forum to help. expecting some one will post the key characters to identify the species. I am sure you have consulted Flora of Manipur (if the family covered), Fl. Assam, Fl. India and other relevant floras. If you think some are widely distributed species, then you may try some international floras/keys (links are given below). You may also like to post the pictures in the group so that members will have a chance to look at the plants and try to help you... Its just a suggestion. Pl check these links for keys to Rumex: http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=1&taxon_id=128864 http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=2&taxon_id=128864 http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/get_IJM.pl?key=8801 http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=gn&name=Rumex Sure, Let me post the pictures. Unfortunately I does not have Flora of Manipur or Flora of Assam. I’m trying to get them. May be you can visit FRLHT Herbarium (perhaps the nearest one to you), where you can refer the floras and collections from Manipur as well. In the mean time you may refer to keys of Flora of China and Flora of Pakistan at www.efloras.org They cover most of our Rumex species.

This dock leaf is quite common here with its broad leaves and tints of reds on its stalks. I guess its a Rumex species but am not sure of its correct ID. Could it be Rumex nepalensis? Rumex nepalensis? Above Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, HP 1800m approx. 17 March 2015 The photograph uploade is Rumex dentatusThank you ... Aren't the leaves of R. dentatus more elongated? There is differences in R. nepalensis and R. dentatus in structure of leaves, ochrea and perianth since the photograph has only leaves which are condensed at the base and has red patches on the leaves is a peculiarity of R. dentatus. Any way if the photograph of the plant with perianth is possible which can give clear picture for the identification. Hope you can understand. Presently the characteristic features of the photograph resemble to R. dentatus Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. I happened to come across flowering plants on my walk in town and I brought a sample to photograph and share with you. I am hoping this addition helps us in confirming the ID.
