Persicaria limbata

Persicaria barbata (L.) H. Hara ? Hooghly 30-12-12 sk1:
Found this Persicaria species in a pond, filled with other vegetation.
H & H : about 3 to 4 ft tall
Date : 29/12/12
Place : Hooghly
I change my proposal, for-
  1. there is a similar pic in FoN that has been identified as P. barbata (L.) H. Hara. -
  2. but the illustration at FoP shows different type of ochrea -
  3. pics of P. barbata can also be seen at -
  4. in contrast to above, pic of P. limbata (Meisn.) Hara can be found at - and at
Bengal Plants. ii. 884. informs -
  • limb of ochrea scabrid, ciliate, spreading or recurved
F. B. I. v. 30. informs -
  • leaves 4-8 inch, shortly petioled lanceolate acuminate..... inflorescence and nut of P. tomentosum.....
I think it is Persicaria limbata (Meisn.) Hara, NOT P. barbata (L.) H. Hara.
Thanks for this post ...!
Persicaria limbata from me too. Ochrea with a spreading limb are visible in the fourth photograph.
