Sauropus merged with Breynia (Phyllanthaceae) : 2 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (1)
Here is a paper wherein the genus Sauropus Blume is combined with Breynia J.R.Forst. & G.Forst. based on molecular studies and necessary transference made. The genus Synostemon F.Muell. is reinstated and the species Sauropus bacciformis is treated under it.
Thank you ... this is what I have been talking about
physical feature can take us only so far, beyond that is the molecular characterization and so all those heated arguments about old classification is a moot point
plant list etc bodies will realize that sooner or later
Thanks ..., We have reservations about this paper. I am raising only one question here. the genus Synostemon is reinstated but the only Indian species, Synostemon bacciformis is not separable from Sauropus by any morphological character. Earlier references based on molecular studies recommended merger of Glochidion, Breynia and Sauropus into Phyllanthus
Our views will be reflected in our forthcoming publication on the family Phyllanthaceae in India and adjoining countries. Till then, we have to accept the merger of Sauropus with Breynia and also recognition of S. bacciformis as Synostemon bacciformis.

Breynia : 1 post by 1 author.

I have updated eFI (efloraofindia) page on Breynia

Attempts have been made to incorporate most of the species available in India & nearby areas with details & keys directly or through links as far as possible. It’s quite possible that there may be some discrepancy in the accepted names & synonyms taken from other links.

Species discussed so far in efloraofindia are given at the bottom of the page in the form of links against Subpages. On clicking them one can see all the details.

If someone can provide complete list of Indian species with source references it will be wonderful.

Any comments/ corrections are welcome.
