Meconopsis!!
This one is Meconopsis aculeata Royle, beauty of the alpine region

It was pleasant find on the trail from Ghangaria to Shri Hemkund Sahib, 23rd August,2010.
It was difficult to manage with camera because of bad visibility, due to Fog & moisture in the climate
Would appreciate the comments, if any
Thanks, ..., I hope you had a wonderful trip to the valley of flowers.
Mine was really good with wonderful capture of around 150 species of flowers, 60 species of birds, around 25 species of fungi, around 25 species of butterflies etc. alongwith wonderful landscapes.
I have to manage a lot of pictures with the help of an umbrella & Raincoat.
But unable to process & post due to paucity of time.
Pl. post your pictures from there if you find time.
Nice experience and in my trip to VoF and Hemkunt I got many orchids, including 3 species of Cypripedium and many others. I was allowed to
go on the other side of the hemkund lake and found some interesting plants on that side too.
Its a great place for botanical exploration.

There seems a buffet arranged for us in the last photo. it speaks a lot about Valley's generosity.
Absolutely right. So many flowers, i think i would have missed reasonably good nos. So few more visits to VOF in coming years is must...

This was the only Meconopsis plant i had seen during this GHNP trek. Probably end of season..
Bot. name: Meconopsis sp??
Family: Papaveraceae
Habitat: Wild, on the rocky soil
plant habit: Herb
date/time:  28-09-2014 / 01:25PM
Location: en-route Dhel pass at altitude of approx 3900m.

Should be M.aculeata if we believe in 'Flora of Great Himalayan National Park, Himachal Pradesh" by S.K.Singh and G.S.Rawat, which mentions only one species (M.aculeata) from park.

Poppy? ABSEP2016/24
: 5 posts by 3 authors. 4 images.
I found this withering plant on my Ilaqa trek and decided to photograph the flowers, leaves and the spiny seedpods to attempt an ID. It looks like a poppy but I may be completely off the mark. There is also this possibility that the flowers have faded from its original colour, though it is unlikely becuase all three flowers were evenly white. Please advise.

I think so.
Thank you ... Can we hazard a guess about the species with this evidence?
Meconopsis aculeata (Papaveraceae) I hope.

I attach an image taken as a slide on the Rohtang Pass back in 1989 which shows good detail of the stamens and stigma.  Shall post habit and habitat shots of this another time - grew on a mossy boulder.
I have quite a number of images of the 'West Himalayan Blue-Poppy' from Kashmir, Ladakh and H.P. incl. a good set from the Sach Pass, which I plan to post at some point.
I am surprised at the confusion with M.horridula, as this species has not been recorded NW of Nepal.

Meconopsis aculeata? ABJUL2017/07 : 8 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (4)
Last year I had posted withered flowers of the same plant from the same location (I am starting a new thread for clarity) and now I have the fresh flower. ... had suggested M. aculeata and I agree with his ID. I am wondering if the plant bears white flowers (there is a slight blue hue in the whites) too and whether it could be another similar plant. Please advise.

Beautiful pics of Himalayan Blue Poppy. Habitat of this species is well illustrated in first image. I this it is M. aculeata only. Colour of flowers is truly reflected here and dark blue is never seen by me in Uttarakhand.
Thank you very much ... for your kind words and for confirming the ID.
Wonderful pics ... you are very well exhibiting all the treasure hidden in your area...nice documentation...!!
Thank you ... I am posting more photos today from my yesterday’s/today’s walk in the mountains.
Forwarding again for validation please as Meconopsis aculeata
Looks matching!
I could find the similar white coloured form at Semantic Scholar
Thank you ... Now I know that the colour varies from pale blue to bright blue to pink. I will share pictures of a pink flower I photographed last year soon.
Thanks, ..., Will be waiting for pink ones.

Here we go. The photo was taken in late August last year at about 3500m

I walked up yesterday to Ilaqa (3300m) to look for bluer blue poppies and was rewarded with these. The light was low after a heavy shower and I could only manage a few photos.

Saw these beautiful flowers near Hemkund, Uttarakhand in Aug 2018.
Had these alongwith two more species on my wish list, however, could satisfy myself with only 2, could not get the 3rd one.
