I was not able to upload anything from that trip due to very busy academic schedule....I have now decided to post my pictures though not in a hurry..as and when I will find some time I will post my unidentified plants...I have decided to start from identified ones...and in the beginning I present to you all a small beauty...Aeginetia indica..shot on 02.10.12 from way to Munsiyari from Chokori... Yes ...; & nice series too.
It is my pleasure to present few images of Aeginetia indica (Orobanchaceae) Ref-1: http://florakarnataka.ces.iisc.ernet.in/hjcb2/herbsheet.php?id=3166&cat=1 Ref-2: http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-2623431 Ref-3: http://keralaplants.in/keralaplantsdetails.aspx?id=Aeginetia_indica Habit: Parasitic Habitat: Wild, evergreen forest floor Sighting: Kempuhole, Sakaleshpur, Hassan, Karnataka, about 800 msl Date: 19-08-2016 Location: Thula Khet, Pokhara, Nepal Date : 10 August 2017Altitude : 2800 ft. Last weekend (12 SEP 09) at Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, came across Aeginetia indica with white coloured flowers. ... commonly known as: forest ghost flower • Hindi: आँकुरी बाँकुरी aankuri bankuri • Malayalam: കീരിപൂ keeripu • Marathi: गुलाबदाणी gulabdani This is very interesting. We never had such in south. I am seeing the white sp. for the first time. Thanks for sharing. Here is the pink one. 2 images. Thanx ... for the showing the white flowered Aeginetia indica. simply wonderful!!!! This is a real fantastic capture! This white variety was first described by Fr.Santapau as Aeginetia indica alba in the Flora of Khandala (Refer Flora of Khandala). He propably avoided mentioning the exact location in Khandala probably to avoid any undue disturbance!! Tungareshwar is home to such miracles including the rusty spotted cat and what not. A systematic documentation of flora and fauna would disclose many such miracles, if work is done properly. ... that is some news ..., thank you very much !! Was already happy that I cam across some rare variety; now, would be doubly happy to know if Aeginetia indica alba is an accepted name ... any further validations in this context? Aeginetia indica, from Manipur. Aeginetia indica is parasitic on grasses and occurs mainly in grassland, but sometimes also in forest. Aeginetia indica can be a destructive parasite of rice, and sometimes on other crops as well. Aeginetia indica ... is commonly known as: aeginetia, forest ghost flower • Hindi: आँकुरी बाँकुरी aankuri bankuri • Malayalam: കീരിപൂ keeripu • Marathi: गुलाबदाणी gulabdani
