Habitat: Epiphytic, Growing  on moss clad tree trunk.
    Sighting: Gutti, Mudigere,Chikmagalur,Karnataka,about 1300 msl

Nice to see this plant from Southern India. Here in Uttarakhand it hardly develops any reddish colour on lip.
Thunia alba var. bracteata (Roxb.) N.Pearce & P.J.Cribb is the one reported from Karnataka.
Thunia alba (Lindl.) Rchb.f. is a another distinct species by itself.

    Please verify ID.
Please check for T.alba var. bracteata in eFI at-

Looks like Thunia alba var. bracteata. Sometimes I believe both alba and alba var. bracteata are same.

Sharing some pictures I guess  is Thunia alba (Lindl.) Rchb. shot at Pokhara Nepal on 27 July 2015 at 2700 ft.
Or is it Thunia alba var. bracteata ??
What is the difference between these two?
Some people (plus I) call this Thunia alba var. bracteata, while others call it Thunia bracteata.
Thunia alba has orange-yellow on labellum; Thunia bracteata has pink-purple.

Thunia alba (Lindl.) Rchb.f. or Thunia alba var. bracteata (Roxb.) N.Pearce & P.J.Cribb at this elevation ?

its supposed to be a lithophytic orchid. so was it growing on stone? or gravelly soil?
    Soil wall.
thanks. never seen it before. new to me
    Ok ...!
Thunia alba var. bracteata. Also grows on trees. But never seen on ground.
So nothing is written in stone? eh! lithophyitc, ?
Yes mam, Lithophyte is the word. This plant is very bulky and heavy, may be the reason for not seeing it on rocks so often, but they do grow on rock cracks if they can hold properly.
    Got it.
Thank you ... Elevation is OK for this sp. ??
Checklist of Nepal gives it as 500-1700 m, while Flora of China gives it as 1200-2300 m.
