If you read my first mail in this series, it tells about what species occur in India in wild. All those species are protected under the Wildlife Protection Act of India, Schedule 6. That means, strict ban on extraction from wild and a person doing so can be jailed.

Apart from these, there is no end to the hybrids which are being cultivated in Indian Gardens. I have a friend in pune ..., he is crazy collector of Paphiopedilums from all over the world. There are many such persons.

C. cordigerum, C. elegans, C. guttatum and C. himalaicum and Pahphiopedilum represented by 9 species (P. charlesworthii, D. druryi, P. farrieanum, P. hirsutissimum, P. insigne, P. spicerianum, P. venustum, P. wardii)
