Liparis petiolata

Plant terrestrial, 15-20cm tall. Pseudobulb narrowly ovoid, compressed, striate, c.3 x 3cm. Stem sheathed at abse. Leaves 2, broadly ovate to suborbicular, acute to acuminate, base rouunded to cordate, petiolate, 7-11 x 3-8.5cm, petiole sheath-like, 6.5-9cm long. Infloresence few-flowered; rachis 3-6cm long; floral bracts linear-lanceolate, 0.8-1.4cm long. Flowers up to 1cm long; petals and lip purple, sepals green; pedicel and ovary 3-4mm long. Sepals subsimilar, lanceolate, acuminate, edges revolute; dorsal sepal refle x ed, 5-7mm long; lateral sepals parallel to the lip. petals linear, spreading, 6-7mm long. Lip flat, elliptic, slightly cordate at base and narrowed towards ape x , 0.7-1.2 x 0.4-0.5cm; central ridge stout, smooth, ending in a murconate point, many-veined; edged entire; base with 2 calluses. Column curved, 2-3mm long, base thickened, wings stout.
