Fruit in papillosa is around 2-3 cm long but in praemorsa its more than 5cm and 10 times thicker than papillosa. Leaves can some times be double the size in praemorsa. Roots are thicker in praemorsa and of course the spur is more pronounced in papillosa. Apart from usual smaller size of flowers (though not much);
The labellum of rigida is much smaller though flower is bigger. Stripe colours never matter except in ochracea where they are reddish. Rigida leaves are much broader and whole plant is much bigger than all other Acampe in the world;

first photo is Acampe ochracea and in second photo flower is not clear though it may be A. praemorsa Acampe confusion: A posting made by one of orchid enthusiastic ..., on the facebook group called "Orchids of the Western Ghats' has brought a lot of discussion and great confusion for us. Some observers, on personal note, said that Acampe praemorsa and A papilosa are synonym. Wherein others believe that both are different species and have different flowering season. I am posting both clicks on efI and look forward for some more light on it. I have attached Acampe praemorsa that was clicked by me on the south part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park , clicked on 18th May`12 and another Acampe , clicked by ... on 9th Nov`12 on northern part of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
That someone who created the confusion was me only !!!
Its very strange, but I saw all those pics by ... but some times pics dont help to 100% accuracy.
One fine day during my PhD work I was driving through forests of Saranda in Jharkhand and I saw huge plants. I was surprised, because, its like I have pics and shadows of orchids, that I have seen, in my head. Its hard to explain how!!! and whenever those which I see in front of my eyes dont match with the shadows in my head, I can make out that they are different without even knowing the whole plant. The plant I saw that day was too big for anything to fit in from Jharkhand, My driver who was actually sitting next to me (I was driving), I stopped the car, went on back gear to around 300m and then stopped, got out of car and I knew the big orchid though it was new record for Jharkhand. My driver said WOW WO ORCHID KYA HAI???? but I knew what it was and I said, WOW TO MUJHE PATA HAI, BUT USKE BAGAL ME CHHOTA WALA KYA HAI? And I walked to this plant, which actually had fruits smaller than my imagination. I said, WOW YE TO ACAMPE PRAEMORSA KA BACHHA LAGTA HAI and we started laughing. I was 100% sure it was Acampe but not praemorsa. Later I identified it as Acampe papillosa, second new record for Jharkhand. On this day, I found 4 new records for Jharkhand!!!
Having seen both plants in real I know they are different, before that me too thought them to be same. Fruit is papillosa is around 2-3 cm long but in praemorsa its more than 5cm and 10 times thicker than papillosa. Leaves can some times be double the size in praemorsa. Roots are thicker in praemorsa and ofcourse the spur is more pronounced in papillosa. Apart from usual smaller size of flowers (though not much).
Hope you can make out the different between these two plants
I know pics r not good because those days, I didnt have a good camera. Strange......
Thank you very much ... for pictures and information on A papilosa. I have taken note of the differences mentioned by you. I think, I would go to the location and take another clear picture from all possible angles and record observations in the field notes.

Id orchid Plz Today 15/5/2013 at Sanjay gandhi Nation park, Borilvili, mumbai, Maharashtra Acampe sp. We can wait for ... comment I think its Acampe rigida (Buch-Hum. ex J.E. Smith) P.F. Hunt Beautiful photo; It looks like Acampe praemorsa I humbly think that this is Acampe praemorsa. I will need picture of whole plant to confirm. A. rigida has much longer and branhed inflorescence. Leaves are bigger too which I cant see here. Here are my Acampe images from Yeoor which I have identified as A. rigida. Hope the required details / attributes to confirm or correct are seen in the images ... To my understanding all your pics are of Acampe praemorsa. I think its not Acampe praemorsa due to the yellow with purplish brown transverse stripes and the lip structure and also differ in plant. but inflorescence looks like Acampe praemorsa. I think it is due to dry condition....... from my side it is Acampe rigida...... The labellum of rigida is much smaller though flower is bigger. Stripe colours never matter except in ochracea where they are reddish. Rigida leaves are much broader and whole plant is much bigger than all other Acampe in the world.
