Requesting to please ID this shrub growing in a sugar cane field at Kagwad near Sangli, Maharahstra in May 2015.
Ma'am, this seems like Vernonia species .. (Asteraceae). Cyanthillium cinereum (Vernonia cinerea
Thanks ... for the possible ID.....the flowers look a bit different though.
Hoping to get the ID validated.
This is Boerhavia sps. (Boerhavia diffusa ?). There are many eco-typic species in this and therefore plenty of variations in the leavesThey grow very luxuriously in calcium rich soils.

This is Boerhavia erecta
Thank you ... for the ID help.
I also got this identified as Boerhavia erecta on the Indian Flora facebook group. The ice cream cone shaped fruits were the identifying feature.
It is Boerhavia erecta L. belongs to family Nyctaginaceae

Boerhavia erecta in FOI : 7 posts by 2 authors.
Boerhavia erecta in FOI looks more like Boerhavia diffusa L. rather than Boerhavia erecta L. as per images herein.
Also image is insufficient for proper id as fruit is very important for it.

Thanks ... for validating the plant at FoI; may be you are correct.
I do not have any pictures of its fruits. I hope those familiar may comment looking at the leaves.

I think this image needs to be removed with properly identified images

Please take a look at the attached cropped picture - the fruits seen in it belong to the same plant (same sighting). Perhaps it will help in ascertaining the species.

Yes it is Boerhavia diffusa L. rather than Boerhavia erecta L. as per images herein.

Thanks ... I have revised my notes now.

Now corrected in FOI.

I am looking for Boerhavia verticillata and Boerhavia erecta. can anyone please guide me to the location of these two plants anywhere?
Earlier we had collected Boerhavia verticillata from Rajasthan but unfortunately the specimen was not B verticillata.

We have B. erecta in My university campus, Available in season only(Aug.-Nov.)
Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh,
sorry for verticillata,
B. erecta is growing as a weed as and when it rains here. in Mysore.
Thank you very much for the information. Is it growing wild or is it maintained as live plant collection at your campus? because i need to collect the same for my research purposes. I hope it is growing wild in areas near your university also.
Thank You for the information. If I or some of my student approach you, can you please guide me to the location of the plant in your area? I need the plant for my research purposes.
You're right sir, it's growing wild in and outside of the campus,
Please go through this paper, it may help you..

Noted. First I need to check up whether it is available now in my surroundings or in some fields, as it is a dry period and almost all the plants  (weeds)  have dried up. Secondly, how much material you need:  with roots or without, fresh or dried  etc..
Therefore I will find out the plant and then send the photographs to efloragroup for confirmation. Once confirmed, in case it is possible to send by courier I can send the plant material to you. I need time, as I am at present out of station and I can check once I return.
All the best in your research work..
There are three Boerhavia verticillata species as per Catalogue of Life, out of which two are reported from India as below:
Boerhavia verticillata Poir. syn. of Commicarpus helenae
Boerhavia verticillata Rottl. syn. of Boerhavia crispa Heyne ex Wall.
Thanks, …, for this publication.
There were lot of discussions in the past for correct placement of our species.
I have a re-look in ef site again on the species. These are correctly placed.
However, they have mentioned B. rubicunda (which is a syn. of Boerhavia elegans subsp. elegans as per Catalogue of life. However, only Boerhavia elegans subsp. stenophylla (Boiss.) A. G. Miller has distribution in India as per Catalogue of Life)
