The problem is i fail to decide concretely its current accepted name.
As per The Plant List Boerhavia repens var. procumbens Hook.f. is a syn. of Boerhavia repens L.
However, Annonated checklist of the flowering plants of Nepal gives Boerhavia repens L. as a syn. of Boerhavia diffusa L.,
but Flora of China, GRIN, & Flora of Pakistan, treat it as a different species from Boerhavia diffusa L..
Surprisingly we don't have any post on Boerhavia repens L. as of now in efi site as per link: Boerhavia
Boerhavia repens L. has no distribution as per latest compilation in Catalogue of Life
To me it appears close to images at Boerhavia diffusa L.

The plant with 15 images is closer to Boerhavia diffusa; But the speciemen post by me is different; it is more hairy; sticky, and stamens 4; where as in all the images stames 3;
It is up to you to agree or not
I had gone through the article;2 points are not coinciding; 1.number of stamens(2-3 as per the article); 2 the plant is very sticky, boerhavia diffusa is not sticky; the pod shape is also not coinciding with B.diffusa; some species need further taxonomic revision

I photographed this bush with very tiny purple flowers, in wild, @  Pune on 20 th Oct 11.
Plz provide Id.

This should be Boerhaavia diffusa, and I believe this should not be a bush, it is a straggling herb.
Yes Boerhavia species. I have also captured this recently. Fruits are needed for species ID
'Punarnava' पुनर्नवा Medicinal I think.
Family : Nyctaginaceae
Agree with you all. This is Boerhavia diffusa, popularly called as 'Punarnava' (i think its a Sanskrit name). Tamil name is 'Mookirattai'
good for renal insufficiency cases, works wonders... witnessed many cases... when used by a well trained and Intuitive (read: LONG practice duration and good basic medicine training) Vaidya... with modern degree.... and a well motivated patient  (and family that supports the
patient... you need that even for Allopathic therapies including hemodialysis, not easy to be a renal insufficiency patient) ..

Yes Boerhaavia diffusa  a common weed in Bengal

Yes Sir, it's a common weed, but identifying a common species around us a entirely new field to me. In my college life i only memorized a few 'notes', vomited those in exam papers and forgot the entire learning in the very next hour!

Please identify these plants: (mixed thread): 1 correct image as above.
These plants are used in India, probably for medicine.
Please provide their description, ID etc.
The top most photograph is punarnava o( Boerhavia diffusa).
Important medicinal plant in ayurveda. Please check the earlier postings on this plant in this group .
Middle photograph is commonly known as redbird cactus (Pedilanthus tithymaloides), also called devil’s backbone or shoe flower plant. This is a cultivated plant, mostly as a hedge especially in Chennai, where water is a scarcity. Google for further details.
Regarding the third one send a better photograph for proper ID.
Nevertheless, it looks like a grass lily. Cannot confirm unless you send the photographs of the plant showing all the details.

the first photograph looks like a punarnava Boerhavia diffusa and the second one like the pedilanthus sp

I too agree with the id. This is Boerhavia diffusa,
a medicinal plant.
Grows wild all around my house in Mysore. Please see the earlier link in E-Flora archives for more info.

In "Set 1_ Boerhavia erecta_Padel2".jpg fruits are glandular. So it is not B. erecta L. I think this plant comes under the FBI entry B. repens L., which later further divided into three entities - 1) B. repens L., 2) B. diffusa L. and 3) B. procumbens Banks ex Roxb.
The difference can be found at efi thread.
Attached here one plate and two links -

The pictures look like Boerhavia diffusa to me, mainly due to the paniculate inflorescences and the fruits with glandular hairs. It is a variable species and the plants may also look different in dry and wet habitat conditions.

Boerhavia erecta.
I think it is Boerhavia diffusa L. of Nyctaginaceae family.
... yes to ... thought ... Boerhavia diffusa ... commonly known as: hogweed, horse purslane, pigweed • Assamese: pananua • Bengali: punarnova • Gujarati:
i also think this is Boerhaavia diffusa
Yes, Boerhaavia diffusa, Vern. Punarnavam, from Nyctaginaceae
As part of my routine exercise I revisit my mistakes and correct (my) errors regularly.
During one such exercise I had a look at this thread again today.
Presented below is the key to identification of Boerhavia from FOC:
Leaf margin with unicellular hairs; perianth limb white, red, or pink; anthocarp glabrous, tip sharply angular. 3 B.erecta
Leaf margin with stout, multicellular hairs, at least when young; perianth limb bright purple or purple-red; anthocarp glandular- hairy, 4 B. diffusa
Based on the above keys I think I will revert to my original stand.
I think more close to images at Boerhavia diffusa L.

Plant for identification 130811MK01:  Please help to identify this species. This root has been traded medicinally in Dindigul and Madurai district of Tamil Nadu in an optimal quantity. I can't ascertain the species by seeing only the root part. This is not so much aromatic but just a soil+root smell. I have seen the width of this up to an inch. People say this is a sort of trailing (or climber) plant (kodi in Tamil); sorry I have not went in to the field to confirm. First picture taken in Feb 2008 and the last two on first week of May 2011.
I suspect this could be a species of Boerhavia sp. Is this possible, kindly help me to resolve?
Local name in Tamil: Saranathi
Roots of Boerhavia diffusa of Nictaginaceae, commonly known as punarnava in Sanskrit, an important medicinal plant in ayurveda and unani. The plant has medicinal properties especially roots which are used to treat gonorrhea, all internal inflammation and edema. Roots stimulate the emptying of the gallbladder, as a diuretic, for all types of liver disorders (including jaundice and hepatitis), gallbladder pain and stones, urinary tract disorders, renal disorders, kidney stones, cystitis, and nephritis.
This is a wild / common weed. In fact plenty are growing around my house in Mysore.

Would someone id it please

Looks like Boerhaavia sp.

Scarlet Spiderling Flowers (Boerhaavia coccineae)?

Appears close to images at Boerhavia diffusa L.

sir can I get botanical name ? - रान घेटळी in Marathi
घेटळी in Marathi seems obscure.
ઘેંટલી is a name in Gujarati for punarnava plant (Boerhavia diffusa) ... Gujarati Lexicon.
Not sure of would be રાન ઘેંટલી.

Boerhavia repens ?

I think Boerhavia diffusa L. as per comparative images at Boerhavia

Again my comments : without the examination of flowers and fruits it is difficult to arrive at the correct id

Fruits are visible in one of the image.
It is Boerhavia diffusa L. as per comparative images at Boerhavia (Genarally only two species has actually been reported in efi so far)
