Thanks, ..., The following does not show any distribution in India for Eugenia reinwardtiana: To me your images look similar to those at Eugenia roxburghii & with distribution in India and observations in Tamilnadu. Yes these images looks similar to E.roxburghii only; the fruit is similar to E. roxburghii; this plant is quiet common in shores around Chennai The specimen of E roxburghii found in FOI do not match with my specimen. The young branch is ferruginous in my specimen and the fruits are reddish (not deep orange) Does Eugenia reinwardtiana has any distribution in Tamilnadu floras? You may check with images in efi site. Based on these 2 variable characters (these characters can be affected by environmental factors) we can not judge ; E.reinwarditiana is a cultivated in some areas; if the specimen is collected from wild it is E.roxburghii only

Edible fruits. great color. are they sweet? are you going to try and sprout them? if successful, can we see the seedlings ? No, I can't. It's not working... They're sweet, sour, bitter. They taste like S cumini even the leaves.. Oh! i wonder how do they sprout in nature. what birds or animals are known to eat it?sprouting may be helped by : may be abrasion? may be going thru the gut of birds or animals? or the micribiome of dung helps? just questions, i dont know answers. may be we have someone here who will know? ...?

Eugenia roxburghii Eugenia reinwardtiana? I have seen E roxburghii in plenty in East coast road near Pondicherry. I tasted both the leaves and fruits. The species in nursery tastes different. Apart from that I know E roxburghii in Auroville Botanical Garden. Although it's cultivated it tastes same as it's natural habitat. The shape of fruits also differs. Looks like Eugenia roxburghii
