Habit- Tall trees, buttressed, up to 35 m tall.
Trunk & Bark- Bark greyish, smooth; blaze cream.
Branches and branchlets- Young branchlets terete, glabrous or subpubescent.
Exudates- Latex white.
Leaves- Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; stipules to 1 cm long, ovate-lanceolate, silky pubescent, caducous and leaving annular scar; petiole 0.8-3 cm long, canaliculate, glabrous; lamina 6-18 x3-8 cm, narrow elliptic-oblong, lanceolate or oblanceolate, apex acuminate to caudate-acuminate, base acute, margin slightly undulate, chartaceous or thinly coriaceous, glabrous, drying green above, brown beneath; midrib flat above; basally 3-nerved; secondary nerves 8-13 pairs, prominent; tertiary nerves reticulate or admedially ramified.
Inflorescence / Flower- Inflorescence syconia, axillary and on leafless twigs, paired or solitary, 0.8-1.5 cm across, subpyriform; flowers unisexual.
Fruit and Seed- Syconium, in axillary pairs, globose, red, glabrous; peduncle 2.5 cm long; achenes smooth.
Canopy trees in evergreen forests up to 1200 m.
Indomalaysia to Australia; in the Western Ghats- South, Central and Maharashtra Sahyadris.

Receptacle distinctly pedunculate, erect tree, receptacle appears to be ca 1.5cm across, leaves with entire margins.

Details of the tree:
Medium sized tree(Height 20-25 ft.)
Leaves: elliptic,oblong-ovate. Leaves were getting renewed in May.Young leaves had Bullate appearance.
Bark is smooth and Trunk is not buttressed

Only one fig was seen on the tree on 12th May, which was reddish in colour.
